During the\u00a0last event of tonight’s finals of the 2017 FINA World Cup in Singapore, the USA team of Alex Walsh<\/strong>, Michael Andrew<\/strong>, Regan Smith<\/strong> and Trey Freeman\u00a0<\/strong>put together a World Junior Record performance in the 4x50m medley relay.<\/p>\n

The same foursome actually set the very record they broke during the preliminary session. There they posted a 1:42.38, it wasn’t until the finals session where they were able to put together an even faster collective 200 meters.<\/p>\n

Split comparison:<\/p>\n

Prelims: Walsh: 27.02, Andrew: 26.65,\u00a0Smith: 26.47,\u00a0Freeman\u00a022.24 = 1:42.38<\/p>\n

Finals:\u00a0Walsh:\u00a027.52, Andrew, 26.02, Smith 26.02, Freeman 22.35 = 1:41.91<\/p>\n

During the finals, the Americans were a half second off WJR pace at the 50. After Andrew’s and Smith’s identical 26.02 splits, both of which were faster that what they were during prelims, the Americans were able to come back from that deficit. Freeman’s tenth of a second add from prelims to finals was negated by the half-second drops Andrew and Regan both had from prelims to finals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
