Broad swims for\u00a0<strong>Kyle Pinsonneault\u00a0<\/strong>at the Chatham Y Pool Sharks.<\/p>\n<p>A Canadian Junior National Team member, Broad was recently a multiple gold medalist at Junior Nationals and a multiple A final qualifier at Canadian Senior Nationals. At Canadian Swimming Championships this summer she finished fourth (29.34) in the 50m back, sixth in the 100m back (1:02.86) and eighth in the 200m back (2:15.92). Her best times in the long course 100 (1:01.92) and 200 (2:13.56) backstrokes were set in July at Canadian Junior Championships. Those times <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/time-conversion\" target=\"_blank\">convert<\/a> to 54.05 and 1:57.13 in short course yards.<\/p>\n<p>That converted 100 backstroke time would have been good for fourth at last year&#8217;s Mid-American Conference Championships. Toledo did not score any points in the event. Freshman\u00a0<strong>Maureen O&#8217;Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>swam (55.75) the backstroke leg of the team&#8217;s sixth place 400 medley relay. Broad could likely take over that role next fall. In the 200 backstroke Broad&#8217;s best converted time would score seventh place points. Toledo freshman\u00a0<strong>Izzy Jones\u00a0<\/strong>was third (1:56.63) and will be a great training partner for Broad for two years.<\/p>\n<p>Broad said of her decision,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Toledo is such a great place. There is a sense of community and family on the team. I\u2019ve observed that Toledo has such a beautiful space that helps the students utilize the time spent there.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/versatile-sydnee-dressel-verbally-commits-to-toledo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sydnee Dressel<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>will also join the Rockets next fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0Wallaceburg, Ontario&#8217;s\u00a0Madison Broad\u00a0has signed to swim for the University of Toledo\u00a0beginning next fall.
