Men’s Meet<\/h3>\n

The William & Mary men’s swimming won 10 of 11 eventsSaturday<\/span><\/span>, breezing past VMI on the road, 150-55. The Tribe improved to 6-1 on the year for the third time in the last five years, while the Keydets fell to 1-3 overall.<\/p>\n

W&M swam a lot of depth-events in the meet, with only a few men swimming races in their top three. Despite that, the Tribe put up a very strong performance with 10 wins and seven more silver-medal showings. Leading the way was senior Conrad Zamparello (Midlothian, Va.)<\/strong>, who won both of his events to rank as the Tribe’s top scorers. First up, he won the 1,000 free in 9:52.48, then came back at the very end of the meet to win the 200 breast in 2:12.72. Sophomore Colin Wright (Williamsburg, Va.)<\/strong> only swam one individual event, collecting a win in the 100 IM at 54.03, but he also played a part in both of W&M’s relay victories. At the start of the meet, he combined with Philip Barto (Midlothian, Va.)<\/strong>, Wyatt Grubb (Mechanicsville, Va.)<\/strong>, and Devin McNulty (Herndon, Va.)<\/strong> to win the 400 medley relay in 3:33.97. Then, in the final event of the day, Wright, Eric Grimes (Louisville, Ky.)<\/strong>, Jack Doherty (Middletown, Conn.)<\/strong>, and Kyle Neri (Wallingford, Conn.)<\/strong> teams up to swim 1:25.06 in the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n

In between the two relays, individual wins also went to Neri, timing 1:43.43 in the 200 free, as well as McNulty, who won the 50 free in 22.06 seconds. Doherty doubled his usual workload to win the 200 fly, touching the wall in 2:01.65. FreshmanAristedes Speres (Rye, N.Y.)<\/strong> won the 100 free by a tough in 48.38 seconds, and classmate Jake Kealy (Wilton, Conn.)<\/strong>stepped away from his usual haunt of the 200 back to instead swim and win the 500 free, stopping the clock in 4:42.63.<\/p>\n

Women’s Meet<\/h3>\n

The William & Mary women’s swimming cruised past VMI on the road Saturday<\/span><\/span>, winning 162-37. The Tribe improved to 7-2 on the year with the win, while the Keydets fell to 0-4 overall.<\/p>\n

W&M showed impressive versatility and depth in the win, with most athletes swimming fourth or fifth events against the short-handed VMI squad, but still winning all 11 events and taking nine seconds as well. Among the team leaders was junior\u00a0Emily Schroeder (West Windsor, N.J.)<\/strong>, who won both of her individual events and led-off the winning 200 free relay. Schroeder began her day with a 1:59.44 win in the 200 free, then came back later to win the 100 free in 54.51 before leading the team of Meghan Schilken (Pittsburgh, Pa.)<\/strong>, Madeline High (Ravenscroft, Va.)<\/strong>, and Yuka Kuwahara (Ashburn, Va.)<\/strong> to victory in 1:41.69 in the final event of the day.<\/p>\n

The freshman High also won an individual event, timing 2:10.74 in the 200 back, and had the lead-off swim in the 400 medley relay that led W&M to the win in 4:01.75. Her teammates on the relay included seniors Jess Crowley (Acton, Mass.)<\/strong> and\u00a0Rachel Anderson (Clifton, Va.)<\/strong>, as well as fellow rookie Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.)<\/strong>. Tiernan and Crowley also had individual wins of their own against the Keydets, with the rookie winning the 500 free in 5:11.67, while Crowley won the 50 free in 24.94 seconds. Other event winners included freshman\u00a0Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.)<\/strong>, winning the 1000 free in 10:39.48, as well as senior Shannon Harrington (Philadelphia, Pa.)<\/strong> who took the 100 IM in 1:01.28. Sophomore Margaret Williams (Williamsburg, Va.)<\/strong> led the Tribe to victory in the 200 fly, touching the wall in 2:13.66, and senior Emma Merrill (Fairfax, Va.)<\/strong> won the final individual event of the day, the 200 breast, stopping the clock in 2:30.60.<\/p>\n
