﻿{"id":284171,"date":"2017-11-13T08:37:28","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T15:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=284171"},"modified":"2017-11-13T08:37:28","modified_gmt":"2017-11-13T15:37:28","slug":"sjostrom-le-clos-extend-leads-at-beijing-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sjostrom-le-clos-extend-leads-at-beijing-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Sjostrom, Le Clos Extend Overall Leads at Beijing World Cup 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sixth leg of the FINA\/airweave Swimming World Cup 2017, marking the start of Cluster #3, in Beijing (CHN) this weekend was highlighted by more victories for World champions <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> of Sweden,<strong> Chad Le Clos<\/strong> (RSA) and <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> (HUN).<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s Chad Le Clos, currently leading the overall ranking with 360 points, grabbed three golds over the two-day competition: He was the best in the 200m free (1:41.81), and the 50\/100 fly (22.22, 49.18).<\/p>\n<p>Morozov took gold in the men&#8217;s 100m individual medley in 50.36 seconds, 0.06 seconds shy of the world record. <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the United States came to second with a world junior record of 51.86. Morozov also won the sprint race in 20.83.<\/p>\n<p>China did not disappoint this weekend at the Water Cube as <strong>Wang Jianjiahe<\/strong> topped the 400m and 800m freestyle, breaking each time a World Junior record in respectively 3:59.69 and 8:12.30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ji Xinjie<\/strong>, <strong>Xu Jiayu<\/strong> and <strong>Zhang Yufei<\/strong> added to their country&#8217;s success by winning the men&#8217;s 400m free (3:39.20), the men&#8217;s 50m back (23.09) and the men&#8217;s 200m fly (2:05.02).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yasuhiro Koseki<\/strong> of Japan won the 100 and 200m breast in 56.75 and 2:03.43 respectively. <strong>Daiya Seto<\/strong> clinched gold in the 400m IM (3:58.20) and <strong>Ryosuke Irie<\/strong> touched home first in the 200m back to give Japan its fourth gold of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Sjostrom pocketed the gold medals in three events: the 50m and 100m free and the 100m fly, making a triple her a triple champion this weekend. She is leading the women&#8217;s ranking with an incredible 515 points.<\/p>\n<p>Jamaica&#8217;s <strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong> continued to perform her best and claimed victory in the 200m breast in 2:19.58 and the 50m breast in 29.57.<\/p>\n<p>Katinka Hosszu (HUN) was the best in the women&#8217;s 100\/200m IM. She clocked excellent times of 57.50 in the 100m and 2:04.64 in the 200m.
