The team scored 346 points while New Berlin Eisenhower was second with 202 points, not far ahead of McFarland&#8217;s 194.5.<\/p>\n<p>Edgewood set a new state record in the first relay.\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Bath<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jenna Silvestri<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Issy Petersen<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Maeve O&#8217;Driscoll\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:44.59 to lower Grafton&#8217;s 2015 200 medley relay mark of 1:45.87.<\/p>\n<p>The state records kept falling as Edgewood senior\u00a0<strong>Kelly Rodriguez\u00a0<\/strong>clocked a 1:48.39 in the 200 free, a half second faster than the 1:48.83 set by\u00a0<strong>Kristin Malone\u00a0<\/strong>in 2012. Rodriguez&#8217; sophomore teammate\u00a0<strong>DeeDee Walker\u00a0<\/strong>finished second (1:54.57). While not in state record time, Rodriguez did win the 500 freestyle with a 4:53.64.<\/p>\n<p>Silvestri, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jenna-silvestri-stays-in-wisconsin-verbally-commits-to-badgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a Wisconsin Badgers commit<\/a>, kept the gold medals rolling for Edgewood with her 2:04.03 200 IM. She returned to the top of the podium at the end of the meet with a 1:04.13 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Another team finally found their way to the top of the podium in the 50 freestyle. McFarland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Moderski\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 22.91, a tenth shy of her own state record. Edgewood&#8217;s\u00a0O&#8217;Driscoll and Bath rounded out the podium in 23.84 and 24.15. Moderski also won the 100 free in 50.69 ahead of Barth (52.25) and Petersen (52.81).<\/p>\n<p>New Berlin Eisenhower&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bella Passamani\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 55.77 for 100 fly gold. Brown Deer&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Hayes\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up with a 56.26.<\/p>\n<p>Another state record came crashing down in the 200 freestyle relay as O&#8217;Driscoll, Barth, Walker, and Rodriguez hit the wall in 1:35.25, eight tenths faster than the state mark of 1:26.02 set in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 backstroke had a tight finish. Monroe\/New Glarus freshman\u00a0<strong>Mekenzie Hammer\u00a0<\/strong>out touched New Berlin Eisenhower&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maddie Guman\u00a0<\/strong>58.22 to 58.25. Just behind the duo for third was Whitnall&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brooke Miles\u00a0<\/strong>in 58.38.<\/p>\n<p>Monona Grove senior\u00a0<strong>Nikki Benedict\u00a0<\/strong>scored 481.20 points to win the one meter diving.<\/p>\n<p>While not in state record fashion, Edgewood still won\u00a0the 400 freestyle relay in convincing fashion.
