Jamaica&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong> and Hosszu&#8217;s Hungarian teammate\u00a0<strong>Boglarka Kapas<\/strong>\u00a0will also be making multiple appearances in the first night of finals. The host country of China also thoroughly dominated, putting multiple swimmers through to every final.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/h1>\n<p>In the first event of this World Cup stop,\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> easily swam to the top seed of the women&#8217;s 100 backstroke with a time of 58.03. She was followed by Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sakaya Akase<\/strong> for second in 58.62. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jie Chen<\/strong> finished third with a time of 58.83.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen year old\u00a0<strong>Xuwei Peng<\/strong> of China placed fourth in 59.16.\u00a0<strong>Maaike De Waard<\/strong> of the Netherlands was fifth in 59.26, while Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amy Forrester<\/strong> touched sixth in 59.44.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh place went to China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lihang Jiang<\/strong> in 59.53. Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lisa Graf\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight for the final in 59.73.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/h1>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xinji<\/strong><strong>e Ji<\/strong> took the top seed in the first men&#8217;s event, the 200 freestyle, with a time of 1:44.86. Australian\u00a0<strong>Cameron McEvoy<\/strong> touched second behind him in 1:45.32, just ahead of France&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Clement Mignon<\/strong>, who was third in 1:45.39.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Stanley\u00a0<\/strong>came in fourth in 1:45.50. Fifth place went to\u00a0<strong>Ziao Qiu<\/strong> of China in 1:45.75. Qiu just out touched\u00a0<strong>Alexander Graham\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia, who was sixth in 1:45.76.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Dudas<\/strong> finished seventh in a time of 1:45.81, while\u00a0<strong>Kyle Stolk\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands was eighth in 1:45.94.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 50 Breaststroke<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>of Jamaica led the women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke prelims by over half a second, finishing first in a time of 29.95. She was the only swimmer under the 30 second barrier, with second place finisher\u00a0<strong>Ran Suo<\/strong> of China touching in 30.50.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to another Chinese swimmer,\u00a0<strong>Junyang Feng<\/strong>, in 30.78.\u00a0<strong>Jingyao Yu<\/strong>, also of China, placed fourth in 30.92.\u00a0<strong>Rikke Pedersen\u00a0<\/strong>of Denmark followed in fifth in 30.99.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jinglin Shi<\/strong> came in sixth in 31.17, just out touching her fellow countrywoman\u00a0<strong>Jiaying Zhang<\/strong>. Zhang was seventh in 31.18. Eighth place went to Taipei&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pei Wun Lin<\/strong> in 31.27.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/h1>\n<p>The top seed in the men&#8217;s 200 breaststroke went to Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Wilson<\/strong>. Wilson touched first in a time of 2:04.22, leading the field by over two seconds. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Haiyang Qin<\/strong> was second in 2:06.54, while Belarus&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong> came in third in 2:07.10.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> finished fourth in 2:07.17. Fifth place went to China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zibei Yan<\/strong> in 2:07.73. Yan&#8217;s teammate,\u00a0<strong>Feilian Mao<\/strong>, was just behind in 2:07.74.<\/p>\n<p>Two more Chinese swimmers rounded out the top eight.\u00a0<strong>Lizhuo Wang<\/strong> was seventh in 2:09.23, and\u00a0<strong>Zhihao Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth in 2:09.50.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 400 Freestyle<\/h1>\n<p>The Chinese women dominated the 400 freestyle prelims. Fifteen year old\u00a0<strong>Jianjiahe Wang<\/strong> led the race in 4:05.48, a second ahead of second place finisher,\u00a0<strong>Jie Dong<\/strong>. Dong finished in 4:06.69.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to\u00a0<strong>Caiping Yang<\/strong> in 4:08.36. Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Boglarka Kapas<\/strong>, the lone swimmer in tonight&#8217;s final not from China, placed fourth in 4:09.31.\u00a0<strong>Xin Xin<\/strong> finished fifth in 4:11.40.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duo Shen<\/strong> came in sixth in 4:11.86. Seventh place went to\u00a0<strong>Ruining Guo<\/strong> in 4:13.40, while\u00a0<strong>Xiaohan Liu<\/strong> was eighth in 4:13.50.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 50 Backstroke<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> of Belarus narrowly led the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke preliminaries, finishing first in 23.38. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jiayu Xu<\/strong> was second in 23.42. Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryosuke Irie<\/strong> placed third in 23.74.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli\u00a0<strong>Zhuravl Toumarkin<\/strong> took fourth place in 23.77. A second Japanese swimmer,\u00a0<strong>Maaski Kaneko<\/strong>, touched fifth in 23.90.<\/p>\n<p>Sixth place went to Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bobby Hurley<\/strong> in 23.92. Hurley was followed by Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christian Diener<\/strong> for seventh in 23.94.\u00a0<strong>Junya Koga\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan rounded out the top eight in 23.95.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 100 Individual Medley<\/h1>\n<p>Hosszu claimed her second top seed of the morning, this time touching first in the women&#8217;s 100 IM in 58.21. She finished a full second ahead of\u00a0<strong>Sarah Sjostrom <\/strong>of Sweden, who was the runner-up in 59.29. Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Runa Imai<\/strong> was third in 59.73.<\/p>\n<p>Korea&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Seoyeong Kim<\/strong> placed fourth in 59.77, while China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sishi Zhang<\/strong> came in fifth in 59.82.\u00a0<strong>Shiwen Ye<\/strong>, also of China, was sixth in 1:00.11.<\/p>\n<p>Atkinson bounced back from the 50 breast to take seventh in 1:00.51. Twelve year old\u00a0<strong>Yichun Wang\u00a0<\/strong>of China finished eighth in 1:00.60.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 400 Individual Medley<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>of the United States finished first in the slower heats of the men&#8217;s 400 IM with a time of 4:13.39. Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mykhailo Romanchuk<\/strong> placed second in 4:15.62, while another American,\u00a0<strong>Christopher Jhong<\/strong>, was third in 4:17.25.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese swimmers rounded out the rest of the top eight.\u00a0<strong>Yiwu Yan<\/strong> came in fourth in 4:20.94.\u00a0<strong>Shuchang Zhou<\/strong> touched in 4:23.70 for fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Sixth place went to\u00a0<strong>Huafeng Wang\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:31.96.\u00a0<strong>Yu Zhou<\/strong> took seventh place in 4:32.05, and\u00a0<strong>Weihua Xiong\u00a0<\/strong>was eighth in 4:44.12. The top eight seeds in the event will swim tonight.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h1>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christina Licciardi\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the top seed for tonight&#8217;s final in the women&#8217;s 200 butterfly, touching first in a time of 2:09.48. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yufei Zhang<\/strong> followed in 2:10.55 for second.\u00a0<strong>Yerin Park\u00a0<\/strong>of Korea placed third in 2:11.31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexandra Wenk<\/strong> of Germany finished fourth in 2:11.38.\u00a0<strong>Jing Liu<\/strong> of China was fifth in 2:11.75.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0Boglarka Kapas came in sixth in 2:14.83, while China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ying Meng\u00a0<\/strong>took seventh in 2:15.16. Eighth place went to China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Siqi Wang\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:15.28.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 100 Butterfly<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Yauhen Tsurkin\u00a0<\/strong>of Belarus finished first in the men&#8217;s 100 butterfly in 51.59. China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Peng Wang<\/strong> was second in 51.66. Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kenneth To<\/strong> touched third in 51.87.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jiayu Xu<\/strong> in 51.97, while Pavel Sankovich was fifth in 52.03. Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura<\/strong> took sixth in 52.09.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jiahao Shen<\/strong> of China placed seventh in 52.47.\u00a0<strong>Xiaojing Zheng<\/strong>, also of China, was eighth in 52.61.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 50 Freestyle<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo\u00a0<\/strong>of the Netherlands narrowly beat out Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong> to claim the top spot in the women&#8217;s 50 freestyle final. Kromowidjojo finished in 23.89, while Campbell touched in 23.92.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Menghui Zhu<\/strong> in 24.16. Denmark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pernille Blume<\/strong> was fourth in 24.32.\u00a0<strong>Bronte Campbell<\/strong> claimed fifth in 24.44.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Xiang Liu<\/strong> finished sixth in 24.51.
