Polo Conference (NEWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 10\/November 8 Polls for the 2017 season.<\/p>\n<p>Defending National Champion the <strong>University of California<\/strong> reclaims the No. 1 position in the National Top 20 on the heels of a 6-3 victory over previously top-ranked the <strong>University of Southern California<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Minor adjustments occur in the Division III Top 10 Poll with <strong>Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong> sticking at No. 1 and the majority of the teams remaining positioned in their same berths from last week.<\/p>\n<p>Defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion <strong>Bucknell University<\/strong> hangs onto the top spot in the MAWPC Top Five rankings as a unanimous top selection, while defending the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five sees <strong>Princeton University<\/strong> move up to No. 1 and former top-ranked <strong>Harvard University<\/strong> slide to No. 3.<\/p>\n<p>Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NEWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released <span data-term=\"goog_17801999\">on Wednesday<\/span> during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2017 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 10\/November 8)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>2016 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Champion the<strong> University of California <\/strong>regains its position on top of the national scene as the Golden Bears are a unanimous No. 1 selection in the Week 10\/November 8 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 Poll.<\/p>\n<p>California (100 points) terminates a five-week run by the <strong>University of Southern California<\/strong> (95 points) as the top team in the land as the Golden Bears downed the Trojans, 6-3, over the weekend to return to the premier position in the National Top 20 Poll for the first time since the Week 3 voting.<\/p>\n<p>One of three teams to hold the No. 1 position this year (Preseason, Week, 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 10) along with USC (Week 5, Week 6, Week 7, Week 8, Week 9) and the <strong>University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong> (Week 4), Cal leads a Top 20 which experienced significant change in the Top Four with the top positions all changing hands.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the Golden Bears, USC slips to No. 2 while <strong>Stanford University<\/strong> (90 points) surpasses UCLA (86 points) to take over at No. 3.\u00a0 <strong>University of the Pacific<\/strong> (80 points) and the <strong>University of California-Irvine<\/strong> (74 points) remain at No. 5 and 6, respectively, while <strong>Long Beach State University <\/strong>(68 points) and <strong>Pepperdine University<\/strong> (68 points) move into a tie at No. 7.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>University of California-Davis <\/strong>(60 points), the <strong>University of California-Santa Barbara<\/strong> (54 points) and <strong>San Jose State University<\/strong> (50 points) stick at No. 9-to-11 for another week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Princeton University<\/strong> (42 points) jumps two spots to tie the <strong>University of California-San Diego<\/strong> (42 points) at No. 12 with <strong>Brown University<\/strong> (33 points), <strong>Harvard University<\/strong> (30 points), <strong>St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong> (22 points), <strong>Bucknell University<\/strong> (18 points) and<strong> California Baptist University <\/strong>(16 points) readjusting to now stand in order at No. 14-to-18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pomona-Pitzer Division III poll.<\/p>\n<p>Pomona-Pitzer (99 points) leads a Top 10 which experiences minor changes for the second week in a row.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Johns Hopkins University<\/strong> (93 points) and the <strong>Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong> (88 points) stay at No. 2 and 3, while <strong>Whittier College<\/strong> (83 points) moves in front of <strong>Chapman University<\/strong> (81 points) to take over at No. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Chapman slips back to No. 5 with the <strong>University of Redlands<\/strong> (79 points) and\u00a0<strong>Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges<\/strong> (72 Men\u2019s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 10\/November 8)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The water polo equivalent of \u201chot potato\u201d continues in the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) as <strong>Princeton University<\/strong> regains the No. 1 position in the league\u2019s Week 10\/November 8 Top Five Poll to continue a five-week long handout between the Tigers, <strong>Harvard University<\/strong> and <strong>St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Princeton (100 points), which downed St. Francis Brooklyn (92 points) by a 13-9 final score over the weekend to capture the No. 1 seed for the upcoming NWPC Championship at Harvard on<span data-term=\"goog_17802000\">November 17-19<\/span>, returns to the No. 1 position following a one-week reign by Harvard (91 points).<\/p>\n<p>It marks the fourth week in a row that the No. 1 spot in the Top Five changes hands as Princeton (Week 6, Week 8, Week 10), Harvard (Week 9) and St. Francis Brooklyn (Week 7) have traded the top position back-and-forth.\u00a0 It continues a trade of change in the poll as Harvard ranked at No. 1 in the Preseason, Week 1 (with Princeton), Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4 polls prior to Princeton running off back-to-back top nods in the Week 5 and 6 polls to initiate the back-and-forth string among the Tigers, Crimson and Terriers.<\/p>\n<p>This week, St. Francis Brooklyn moves up to No. 2, while Harvard drops back to No. 3 due to a 13-11 loss to <strong>Brown University<\/strong> (87 points).<\/p>\n<p>The Bears and the <strong>Massachusetts Institute of
