Ames took home the title with a decisive win of 384 points, followed by Dowling Catholic at 271.5 points and Bettendorf with 203.5. Ames&#8217; 384 points marks the highest total the team has ever scored in their seven total titles.<\/p>\n<p>Ames began the meet strong with a first place finish of 542.45 points by\u00a0<strong>Jayna Misra<\/strong> in the 1-meter diving event on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The women of Ames built upon their success by collecting victories in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay, equally 80 points altogether. In the 200 medley relay,\u00a0<strong>Annie Galvin<\/strong> (27.43),\u00a0<strong>Molly Winer<\/strong> (27.55),\u00a0<strong>Mia Moulden<\/strong> (26.41), and\u00a0<strong>Sophie Sorenson<\/strong> (23.20) posted a time of 1:46.39.<\/p>\n<p>Sorenson (3:31.44 led off Ames&#8217; record-breaking 400 free relay team, along with\u00a0<strong>Brinley Horras<\/strong> (52.22), Galvin (52.63), and\u00a0<strong>Amy Feddersen<\/strong> (49.18). Together the four obliterated the previous state record of 3:28.74, set in 2016 by Ames, with a 3:24.89.<\/p>\n<p>Ankeny took home gold in the 200 free relay as relay members\u00a0<strong>Christina Ware<\/strong> (24.91),\u00a0<strong>Nikki Ault<\/strong> (24.44),\u00a0<strong>Erin Doruska<\/strong> (23.50), and\u00a0<strong>Jasmine Rumley<\/strong> (22.26) posted a time of 1:35.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clare Culver<\/strong> of Dowling Catholic picked up first in the 200 free, stopping the clock at a 1:49.86.\u00a0<strong>Alex Thorson<\/strong> of Waukee finished second overall with a 1:50.47, while Iowa City West&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aurora Roghair<\/strong> was third with a 1:52.76.<\/p>\n<p>Sorenson grabbed her first of two individual wins in the 200 IM, delivering a final time of 2:03.53. Bettendorf&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arianna Ottavianelli<\/strong> posted a second place finish of 2:04.82, while Waukee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna Hamling<\/strong> was third with a 2:07.41.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the meet, Sorenson edged past her own 2015 state record of 54.61 in the 100 back with a 54.60. Pleasant Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aviana Zahara<\/strong> took second overall with a 56.51, followed by Dowling Catholic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Broderick&#8217;s<\/strong> 56.96.<\/p>\n<p>Ankeny&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jasmine Rumley<\/strong> and Ames&#8217; Feddersen were the pair to watch in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Rumley claimed victory in the 50 with a 22.93 over Feddersen&#8217;s 23.01, however Feddersen fought back in the 100 with a 49.54. Feddersen&#8217;s downed the previous state record of 50.29 from 2016 and makes her the first Iowa high school female to swim beneath the 50-second mark.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Berit Quass<\/strong> collected two individual wins for Dowling Catholic, first in the 100 fly and then in the 500 free. Quass&#8217; 54.38 in the 100 fly downed the ten-year-old state record of 54.57.<\/p>\n<p>The sophomore later turned in a 4:55.00 to win the 500 free. She was followed to the wall by\u00a0<strong>Brinley Horras<\/strong> of Ames (4:59.24) and\u00a0<strong>Meg Susil<\/strong> of Dowling Catholic (5:00.59).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Molly Winer<\/strong> of Ames took home victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.62, followed by Ottavianelli and her time of 1:03.94.
