UNC\u2019s women won the meet 178.5 to 121.5, while the men came out on top by a score of 166 to 134.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Caroline Baldwin <\/strong>and freshman <strong>Caroline Hauder <\/strong>have been the catalysts for the Tar Heels all year, and they were once again against Virginia Tech. Baldwin won the 100 back (52.44) and 100 free (48.44), while Hauder swept the 100 (1:01.46) and 200 breast (2:15.27) and also added a win in the 200 IM (1:59.51).<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin, Hauder, <strong>Maddie Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Brooke Bauer <\/strong>won the meet-opening 200 medley relay in 1:40.17. Smith also won the 50 free (23.07), while in the distance events, <strong>Robyn Dryer <\/strong>won the 1000 free (9:55.86) and <strong>Bryanna Cameron<\/strong> took first in the 500 (4:51.91). In diving, <strong>Elissa Dawson <\/strong>won the three-meter event (358.65).<\/p>\n<p>To wrap up the meet, Baldwin, <strong>Emma Cole<\/strong>, Smith and Bauer won the 400 free relay in 3:22.25.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Tech\u2019s <strong>Klaudia Nazieblo <\/strong>posted wins in the 200 fly (1:56.96) and 100 fly (54.33), while <strong>Reka Gyorgy <\/strong>won the 200 free (1:49.83) and <strong>Emily Meilus <\/strong>captured first in the 200 back (1:59.33). <strong>Ashlynn Peters <\/strong>won three-meter diving (300.98).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s meet, Tar Heel freshmen were responsible for six of the team\u2019s seven victories. <strong>Alvin Jiang <\/strong>swept the 100 back (46.83) and 100 fly (48.15), and <strong>Valdas Abaliksta <\/strong>swept the 100 (54.75) and 200 breast (1:58.98).<\/p>\n<p>Jiang and Abaliksta combined with <strong>Nick Loomis <\/strong>and <strong>James Casey <\/strong>to win the 200 medley relay in 1:28.78. <strong>Hans Schroeder<\/strong>, Abaliksta, Casey and <strong>Phillip Perdue <\/strong>won the 400 free relay in 3:00.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dimitrios<\/strong> <strong>Dimitriou<\/strong> picked up a win in the 200 free, touching in 1:38.61, and <strong>Chris Thames <\/strong>won the 200 back (1:47.72). The only upperclassman win for UNC came from senior <strong>Henry Campbell<\/strong>, who touched out VT\u2019s <strong>Lane Stone <\/strong>to win the 500 free, 4:29.25 to 4:29.58.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Tech\u2019s <strong>Ian Ho<\/strong> swept the 50 (19.94) and 100 free (44.59), while <strong>Michael Craddock <\/strong>won the 1000 free (9:17.17), and <strong>Norbert Szabo<\/strong> won the 200 fly (1:48.93) and 200 IM (1:51.28). <strong>Benjamin Schiesel <\/strong>won one-meter diving (362.48), and teammate <strong>Jack Gigliotti <\/strong>captured first on the three-meter board (369.45).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2017-virginia-tech-at-north-carolina\/ncaa-college\/2017\/November\/4\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>NC State at Cal (women only)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One day after coming up short against Stanford, the NC State Wolfpack women could not keep pace with reigning NCAA runners-up Cal, falling by a score of 176 to 124.<\/p>\n<p>Against Stanford, NC State won just one swimming event. For the women, <strong>Sarah Giamber <\/strong>won the 400 IM in 4:25.35, <strong>Valerie Daigneault <\/strong>won the 200 back in 1:58.82, and <strong>Lina Rathsack<\/strong> came out on top in the 200 breast, touching in 2:14.96.<\/p>\n<p>Daigneault, Rathsack, <strong>Sam Howe<\/strong> and <strong>Rachel Brown<\/strong> combined to win both the 200 medley (1:44.31) and 400 free relays (3:25.58).<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, <strong>Armin Remenyi <\/strong>posted a huge day, winning the 100 free (45.87) and 100 fly (50.28) and contributing to two relay wins. <strong>Bence Szucsik<\/strong>, <strong>Jason Young<\/strong>, <strong>Blaise Vera <\/strong>and Remenyi won the 200 medley relay in 1:31.24, while <strong>Brian Lovasik<\/strong>, Remenyi, Vera and <strong>Eben Vorster <\/strong>won the 400 free relay in 3:00.95.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Szucsik touched first in the 200 back (1:49.97), while Lovasik won the 500 free (4:33.30).
