Team scores were not yet available as of posting, but Chaparral won nine of the\u00a011\u00a0events in the girls&#8217; meet. The boys meet saw Chaparral on top of the podium five times.<\/p>\n<h2>Girls<\/h2>\n<p>Chaparral was winning the meet from the get-go. The 200 medley relay team (names were not yet available) touched in 1:44.20, five seconds ahead of Ironwood Ridge (1:49.21) and Arcadia (1:49.64).<\/p>\n<p>Chaparral&#8217;s freshman\u00a0<strong>Ashley Strouse\u00a0<\/strong>was dominant in the 200 free in 1:48.35. She ran away from the field again in the 500 free with her 4:53.04. It was a tight race in second through fifth. Ultimately Arcadia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sydney Carlson\u00a0<\/strong>(5:03.12) and Sunrise Mountain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gabriella Tellez\u00a0<\/strong>(5:03.43) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Chaparral\u00a0took the first two individual events. Senior\u00a0<strong>Kelly Huffer\u00a0<\/strong>got her hand to the wall in 2:03.23, just ahead of Arcadia&#8217;s\u00a0Carlson<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:03.65. It was a touch out for third.\u00a0<strong>Haley Mayhew <\/strong>of Ironwood Ridge\u00a0hit the wall in 2:05.42 while Huffer&#8217;s freshman teammate\u00a0<strong>Riley Courtney\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 2:05.43.<\/p>\n<p>Huffer returned to take the 100 fly in 55.85. Teammate\u00a0<strong>Samantha Krew<\/strong>, a freshman, was second in 57.33, just faster than Notre Dame&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexa Markl\u00a0<\/strong>(57.54).<\/p>\n<p>Ironwood Ridge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hannah Houlton\u00a0<\/strong>won the splash and dash with a 24.09. Chaparral freshman\u00a0<strong>Greer Pattison\u00a0<\/strong>took silver in 24.17 just ahead of Arcadia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isabella Fratesi\u00a0<\/strong>(24.25). Houlton took gold again in the 100 free, stopping the clock in 52.05. For her second silver of the afternoon Krew posted a 52.35. Rounding out the top three was Cactus Shadows&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Kendall Bennett\u00a0<\/strong>(53.25).<\/p>\n<p>It was Chaparral on top again in the 200 freestyle relay.\u00a0Krew,\u00a0Courtney,\u00a0<strong>Chloe Zapata<\/strong>, and Strouse touched in 1:36.25.\u00a0Chaparral freshman\u00a0<strong>Greer Pattison <\/strong>then\u00a0won the 100 back in a 56.57. Her fellow freshman and teammate Courtney got to the wall in 1:04.64 in the 100 breast, just quicker than Arcadia&#8217;s Fratesi (1:04.92) and Ironwood Ridge&#8217;s\u00a0Mayhew (1:05.31).<\/p>\n<p>Chaparral ran away with the 400 freestyle relay to end the meet. Tellez,\u00a0<strong>Kayden Brendel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Thomas<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ellice Richman\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 3:30.60.<\/p>\n<h2>Boys<\/h2>\n<p>Following their girls&#8217; lead the Chaparral boys also won the 200 medley relay.\u00a0<strong>Conner Hoban<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Matthew Leblanc<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Simmons<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Sam Acheson\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:36.29. Verrado&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jadan Nabor<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Grant Greenbaum<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jacob Cress<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Zach Petrey\u00a0<\/strong>(1:37.56) were second. Picking up bronze in 1:38.63 was the team from Notre Dame Prep:\u00a0<strong>Connor Markl<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Salvino<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>William Bansberg<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ansel Averitte<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The top two were a tight finish in the 200 free. Catalina Foothills&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Scott Pekarske\u00a0<\/strong>edged Shadow Ridge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Max Weed\u00a0<\/strong>1:42.10 to 1:42.22. Canyon del Oros&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Landyn Riester\u00a0<\/strong>placed third (1:44.27), not far ahead of Pekarske&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Bradley DeFoor\u00a0<\/strong>(1:44.89). Pekarske picked up another gold in the 500 free when he stopped the clock in 4:36.87. Weed was second again, this time with a 4:38.42. Salpointe Catholic freshman\u00a0<strong>Aidan Reagan\u00a0<\/strong>placed third (4:41.90).<\/p>\n<p>Lablanc added to his relay gold with a 200 IM victory in 1:53.42. Williams Field&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miller Browne\u00a0<\/strong>(1:54.56) and Campo Verde&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Bradjan\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.66) followed.<\/p>\n<p>After anchoring his team&#8217;s third place relay Averitte topped the 50 free in 21.29.\u00a0<strong>Harris Temple\u00a0<\/strong>of PRES out touched Notre Dame&#8217;s Salvino 21.62 to 21.67. Also just behind was Chapparel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jaedin Clark<\/strong>. Temple then rose to the top in the 100 free, winning the event in 46.92, only .01 ahed of Chaparell&#8217;s Acheson (46.93). Acheson&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Jaedin Clark\u00a0<\/strong>(47.89) was third.<\/p>\n<p>Verrado&#8217;s Nabor clocked a 50.37 to win the 100 fly. Chaparrel&#8217;s Simmons (51.54) and Canyon del Oros&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Wyatt Matson\u00a0<\/strong>(51.76) were second and third.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 freestyle relay Chaparral&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rick Popper<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tyler Best<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cole Rodriguez<\/strong>, and Clark stopped the clock in 1:28.17, just beating Canyon del Oro&#8217;s Riester, Matson,\u00a0<strong>Tyloer Lerew<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Alexander Pollock\u00a0<\/strong>(1:28.30).<\/p>\n<p>The 100 backstroke gold went to 200 IM runner up, Browne (51.80).\u00a0<strong>Jered Moore<\/strong>, a junior from Cactus Shadows High School, placed second (52.26).<\/p>\n<p>Chapparal sophomore\u00a0Leblanc won the 100 breaststroke in 57.35. Queen Creek&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Parker Hansen\u00a0<\/strong>placed second (58.76).<\/p>\n<p>Catalina Foothills grabbed the meet&#8217;s last\u00a0victory.
