Here is how the Big Ten fared this weekend.<\/p>\n<h3>Minnesota vs. Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin<\/h3>\n<p>Michigan swept Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin in the Big Ten quad in Minneapolis, where the men&#8217;s Big Ten and NCAA meets will be held. Minnesota men and women both beat\u00a0Wisconsin and Penn State and Wisconsin swept Penn State in the two-day quad.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Minnesota and Michigan women traded blows on Friday night as the\u00a0Wolverines started the meet with a win in the 200 free relay (1:30.80) as they lead the Big Ten in that event this season so far. Michigan also got wins from\u00a0<strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 IM (1:56.62),\u00a0<strong>Rose Bi\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500 (4:41.26) and\u00a0<strong>Catie DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 free (49.73).<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota won all the other women&#8217;s events but one on Friday night with\u00a0<strong>Tevyn Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 back (53.25),\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Kozelsky\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 breast (2:12.87) and the 400 medley relay team of Waddell (53.49), Kozelsky (1:00.85),\u00a0<strong>Danielle Nack\u00a0<\/strong>(53.76) and\u00a0<strong>Zoe Avestruz\u00a0<\/strong>(49.85) for a 3:37.95. Wisconsin&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>won the other event on Friday night with a 1:58.01 in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n<p>The Badger women showed up more on Saturday as they won four of the nine pool events on Saturday afternoon. They started with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:39.88) and got individual wins from\u00a0<strong>Emmy Sehmann\u00a0<\/strong>in the 50 (23.16) and\u00a0<strong>Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 back (1:55.06) and the 100 fly (53.95). Nelson tied with Minnesota&#8217;s Nack in the 100 fly for the win. The Gophers lone win on Saturday came from Kozelsky in the 100 breast (1:00.74) as she beat Michigan sophomore\u00a0<strong>Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>in both breaststroke events on the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0Bi<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>won the 400 IM (4:15.44) and the 1000 (9:45.54) and Haughey won the 200 free (1:45.86) and finished the meet with a win in the 400 free relay (3:19.62).<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan men had a similarly dominant performance in Minneapolis as they opened up Friday with wins in every single pool event except two. Their individual Friday wins came from\u00a0<strong>Evan White\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 IM (1:46.99),\u00a0<strong>Felix Auboeck\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500 (4:21.34),\u00a0<strong>Paul Powers\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 free (44.00) and\u00a0<strong>Miles Smachlo\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 fly (1:47.08). The Wolverines also won the 200 free relay (1:19.37) and the 400 medley relay (3:14.54).<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin and Minnesota each got one win on Friday night as the Badgers&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Matt Novinski\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 back (48.04) and the Gophers&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Conner McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 breast (1:56.79).<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Wolverines won six of the nine events.\u00a0<strong>Charlie Swanson\u00a0<\/strong>won the 400 IM (3:54.53),\u00a0<strong>Felix Auboeck\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 free (1:37.22),\u00a0<strong>Evan White\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 fly (47.63) and\u00a0<strong>Ricardo Vargas\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1000 (9:06.55) for the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon. They also swept the relays with wins in the 200 medley (1:27.84) and the 400 free (2:57.92).<\/p>\n<p>The Gophers got two wins on Saturday from\u00a0<strong>Bowen Becker\u00a0<\/strong>in the 50 (20.06) in a slight upset over Michigan&#8217;s Powers, and\u00a0<strong>Conner McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 breast (54.47). Wisconsin&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Todd McCarthy\u00a0<\/strong>also won the 200 back at 1:47.01.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0Iowa vs. Purdue<\/h3>\n<p>The Iowa men finished first and second on the final 400 free relay to steal a victory in West Lafayette from Purdue 152-148. Iowa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kenneth Mende\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jerzy Traworski\u00a0<\/strong>starred for the Hawkeyes as Mende won the 100 (48.85) and 200 back (1:46.56). Twarowski won both butterfly events (47.85, 1:48.65) and split a 45.51 in the final 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa closed out the meet with a 3:01.06 in the 400 free relay thanks to\u00a0<strong>Joe Myhre\u00a0<\/strong>anchoring at 44.40, which was the fastest after Iowa&#8217;s other anchor\u00a0<strong>Jack Smith\u00a0<\/strong>swam last on the B relay with a 44.33. Iowa is coming off a big win against Minnesota last week and has continued that momentum into this week with another conference win over Purdue.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue also had good swims from seniors\u00a0<strong>Marat Amaltdinov\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Adam Noens\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 breast (1:59.17) and the 200 IM (1:50.27) respectively. Amaltdinov also won the 100 breast ahead of freshman\u00a0<strong>Trent Pellini\u00a0<\/strong>(54.73) to Pellini&#8217;s 54.75.<\/p>\n<p>The Purdue women beat Iowa 176-123 as senior\u00a0<strong>Kaersten Meitz\u00a0<\/strong>was the star of the night with wins in the 1000 (9:39.42) and 500 (4:44.29). Meitz leads the Big Ten in the 1000 and is fourth nationally in that event. Junior\u00a0<strong>Taite Kitchel\u00a0<\/strong>also swam well for the Boilermakers as she won three events, the 200 fly (1:59.76), 100 fly (54.17) and the 200 IM (2:03.70).<\/p>\n<h3>In Non-Conference Action<\/h3>\n<p>Ohio State beat Denison and Akron in a co-ed meet between the in-state rivals.\u00a0<strong>Molly Kowal<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Meg Bailey<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Genevieve Angerame\u00a0<\/strong>had two wins each. Bailey had a good day winning the 200 fly (1:59.13) and the 200 IM (2:01.08) as she sits fourth and fifth in those events respectively in the Big Ten.\u00a0<strong>Freya Raymer\u00a0<\/strong>(22.87)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Macie McNichols\u00a0<\/strong>(22.88) went 1-2 in the 50 free to sit third and fourth in the Big Ten this year in that event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noah Lense\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nick Hogsed\u00a0<\/strong>came up big for the Buckeye men as Lense won both butterfly events (48.56, 1:48.87) in the Buckeyes win over Division III Denison. Hogsed won the 200 free (1:38.47) and the 200 IM (1:52.65) while\u00a0<strong>Brayden Seal\u00a0<\/strong>won the 500 (4:30.57) and the 200 free (1:39.13).<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern men beat Southern Illinois and lost to SEC opponents Kentucky and Missouri in the two day Saluki Invitational in Carbondale. The Wildcats are a young team with a good freshman class at the front.\u00a0<strong>Lyon Zhang\u00a0<\/strong>had the fastest 400 IM (4:06.74) and the 200 breast (2:06.22),\u00a0<strong>Liam Gately\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 (1:43.73) and the 500 free (4:36.07), and\u00a0<strong>Dongjin Hwang\u00a0<\/strong>had the fastest 1000 (9:29.17) for the Wildcats.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois lost on the road at Florida International 251.5-166.5 in a two-day duel meet.\u00a0<strong>Sam Stratford\u00a0<\/strong>won\u00a0five events on the weekend with the 200 fly (2:00.72), the 200 free (1:49.16) the 100 IM (57.66), the 100 free (51.50) and the 400 IM (4:22.66). The Illini also got wins from\u00a0<strong>Michelle McCord\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 IM (2:06.00) and\u00a0<strong>Monica Guyett\u00a0<\/strong>in the 1000 (10:20.12).<\/p>\n<p>The Cornhuskers of Nebraska dropped a 154-84 decision to Arkansas in Fayetteville as the Huskers lone win came from\u00a0<strong>Jordan Ehly\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 breast (2:15.74).<\/p>\n<p>Rutgers defeated Georgetown and Seton Hall and lost to Pittsburgh in the Penta-meet on Friday night. The Scarlet Knights had wins from\u00a0<strong>Francesca Stoppa\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 fly (2:00.89) and <strong>Francesca Bertotto\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500
