A Proposition: Open Water Relays at the Olympics<\/h2>\n

Open water relays are already part of the swimming schedule at the World Championships. Why not add a 5K team event to the Olympics?<\/p>\n

Haley Anderson<\/strong>, an Olympic silver medalist in the 10K open water event, has watched and envied the relay dynamic for years. A gifted distance swimmer in the pool, Anderson\u2019s last shot at swimming on a relay in the pool was during her collegiate years at the University of Southern California (2010-13). She\u2019s hoping the 5K team event could make it into the Olympic lineup someday…<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if it has a chance (of becoming an Olympic event),\u201d Anderson said. \u201cBut being a distance swimmer, you don\u2019t get a chance to do relays. We only have one Olympic open water event, so I hope it has a chance…\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
