PHOENIX, Arizona, October 13. RECRUITS continue to make their college decisions in a fast and furious fashion, as three more swimmers are off the board according to the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings system.<\/p>\n

Sam Shimomura, whose profile<\/a> in the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings ranks him with a five-star ranking, has committed to being a California Golden Bear. Shimomura, who trains at the Santa Clara Swim Club, and preps at Bellarmine College Prep, is an all-around freestyle threat with several senior national cuts: 200m free 1:52.81; 400m free 3:57.95; 1500m free 15:57.49.<\/p>\n

Shimomura appeared on the Morning Swim Show after helping Santa Clara to a U.S. National Age Group record relay at the short course junior nationals in Dec. 2010. The foursome of Shimomura, Chris Scheaffer, Stephen Shilling and Ian Burns broke the 15-16 national age group record in the 200-yard freestyle relay.<\/p>\n

Madison Burns, whose profile<\/a> in the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings ranks her with a five-star ranking, is on her way to compete for North Carolina. Burns, who trains with Parkland Aquatic Club and preps at Northwestern Lehigh, can fill in plenty of holes for the Tar Heels with senior national cuts in several events: 200m breast 2:34.77; 200m IM 2:19.68; 400m IM 4:51.92.<\/p>\n

Four-star Hanne Borgersen<\/a> is will be competing for the Virginia Cavaliers next fall after making her choice this weekend. Borgersen, who trains with Monocacy Aquatic Club and preps at Frederick High School, already has NCAA Division I B cut quality times in the 500-yard free (4:45.47) and 1650-yard free (16:28.61). <\/p>\n
