While a lot of teams have gotten their first taste of competition in October, a few teams have yet to have a real meet, including pre-season #4\/6 MIT and the entire NESCAC conference.<\/p>\n<p>MIT swam its alumni meet on October 21, but has not had a real meet yet. MIT usually doesn&#8217;t start its duel meet season until the first weekend of November and they will travel to Springfield College on Saturday. The MIT women were 5th last year at NCAA&#8217;s while the men were 8th at nationals.<\/p>\n<p>MIT returns sophomore\u00a0<strong>Bouke Edskes\u00a0<\/strong>who was the runner-up in the 100 and 200 fly last year at NCAA&#8217;s and NEWMAC women&#8217;s rookie of the year\u00a0<strong>Kayla Holman<\/strong>. The MIT team is young and deep and the rest of Division III swimming will get their first scouting report this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Other teams making their debuts are the teams from the NESCAC conference in the northeast. None of the New England Small College Athletic Conference teams have swam a meet yet this season. They usually start practice around this time of year as the schools want their athletes to focus on academics more in the fall semester. The NESCAC conference schools are a part of the &#8220;Little Ivies,&#8221; a group of private liberal arts colleges in the northeast.<\/p>\n<p>They will all start competition on November 18.<\/p>\n<p>The teams in the NESCAC include (#16\/11) Amherst, (NR\/16) Bates, (#21\/NR) Connecticut College, (#10\/NR) Tufts and (#9\/2) Williams, as well as unranked Bowdoin College, Colby College, Hamilton College, Middlebury College, Trinity College and Wesleyan University.<\/p>\n<p>(#3\/4) Denison will travel to Ohio State on Friday night and host in-state rival Xavier on Saturday afternoon before the November 11 showdown with bitter rival (#1\/3) Kenyon.<\/p>\n<p>Defending champions on both sides, Emory will be hosting a quad meet with Division II Wingate, Catawba College and Georgia Southern.
