The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NEWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 9\/November 1 Polls for the 2017 season.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0University of Southern California<\/strong>\u00a0remains at No. 1 this week as the National Top 20 experiences significant changes in positions No. 12-to-20 from the October 25 voting.<\/p>\n

Minor adjustments occur in the Division III Top 10 Poll with\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0sticking at No. 1 with the majority of the teams remaining positioned in their same berths from last week.<\/p>\n

Defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion\u00a0Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0hangs onto the top spot in the MAWPC Top Five rankings as a unanimous top selection, while defending Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0return to the No. 1 spot in the NWPC Top Five.<\/p>\n

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NEWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span>\u00a0during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.<\/p>\n

2017 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 9\/November 1)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The\u00a0University of Southern California\u00a0<\/strong>retains its position on top for the fifth week in a row by staying at No. 1 in the Week 9\/November 1 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 Poll.<\/p>\n

USC (99 points), which loses its position as a unanimous top selection, leads a Top 20 in which no changes occur in the Top 11.<\/p>\n

Defending National Champion the\u00a0University of California<\/strong>\u00a0(96 points), the\u00a0University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong>\u00a0(90 points),\u00a0Stanford University<\/strong>\u00a0(86 points),\u00a0University of the Pacific\u00a0<\/strong>(80 points), the\u00a0University of California-Irvine<\/strong>\u00a0(74 points),\u00a0Long Beach State University\u00a0<\/strong>(70 points),\u00a0Pepperdine University<\/strong>\u00a0(66 points), the\u00a0University of California-Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(61 points), the\u00a0University of California-Santa Barbara<\/strong>\u00a0(55 points) and\u00a0San Jose State University<\/strong>\u00a0(48 points) follow the Trojans at No. 2-to-11, respectively, as the majority of the poll remains unchanged from the Week 8\/October 25 voting.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0University of California-San Diego<\/strong>\u00a0(43 points) and\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0(41 points) both move up one place to take over at No. 12 and 13, respectively, while\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0(36 points) falls two spots to No. 14.<\/p>\n

St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0(26 points) is the biggest mover this week as the Terriers improve four slots from No. 19-to-15 with\u00a0Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(21 points) and\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(21 points) tied at No. 16.<\/p>\n

Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0(20 points),\u00a0California Baptist University<\/strong>\u00a0(13 points) and\u00a0Santa Clara University<\/strong>\u00a0(3 points) complete the Top 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Sagehens of\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0remain at No. 1 in the Week 9\/November 1 Men\u2019s Varsity Division III poll.<\/p>\n

Pomona-Pitzer (99 points) leads a Top 10 which experiences minor changes.<\/p>\n

Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(94 points) remains at No.2, while the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(87 points) breaks out of a tie at No. 3 with\u00a0Chapman University<\/strong>\u00a0(86 points) to take over sole possession of the third position.<\/p>\n

Chapman slips back to No. 4 with\u00a0Whittier College<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points) staying at No. 5.<\/p>\n

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(74 points) and the\u00a0University of Redlands<\/strong>\u00a0(72 points) exchange the No. 6 and 7 spots with\u00a0California Lutheran University<\/strong>\u00a0(68 points), theUniversity of La Verne<\/strong>\u00a0(49 points) and the\u00a0California Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(45 points) remaining at No. 8-to-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

2017 Men\u2019s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 9\/November 1)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0retains its Preseason, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6, Week 7 and Week 8 selection as the No. 1 team in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) as the Bison top the Week 9\/November 1 Top Five Poll.<\/p>\n

The 2016 MAWPC Champion Bison (100 points) are once again a unanimous top selection after previously earning 100 points in the Preseason, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6, Week 7 and Week 8 polls.<\/p>\n

Fordham University<\/strong>\u00a0(93 points),\u00a0George Washington University<\/strong>\u00a0(92 points),\u00a0Wagner College<\/strong>\u00a0(85 points) and\u00a0Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(48 points) retain the remainder of the positions in the Top Five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

2016 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion\u00a0Harvard University\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 which topped the Preseason, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4 Polls \u2013 returns to the top position in the league\u2019s Week 9\/November 1 Top Five Poll<\/p>\n

The Crimson (98 points) \u2013 who took down former No. 1\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0(95 points) and No. 2\u00a0St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0(92 points) by scores of 10-9 and 15-13, respectively, last week \u2013 moves in front of the Tigers and Terriers for the first time\u00a0in five weeks<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Week 5, 6 and 8 leader Princeton slides back to No. 2 with Week 7 frontrunner St. Francis dropping back to No. 3.<\/p>\n

Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(84 points) and the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(81 points) once again round out the Top Five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
