LINCOLN, Neb., Aug. 21. TWO more University of Nebraska football players were arrested this weekend after an argument at a bar, according to an Associated Press story by Scott Bauer.<\/p>\n
Dahrran Diedrick, an I-back, and backup linebacker Tony Tata reportedly spent Saturday night in jail after being charged with disturbing the peace. Both Diedrick and Tata were suspended from the 2000 Fiesta Bowl after violating team rules before that game. <\/p>\n
The most recent incident brings to four the number of Nebraska football players arrested since June. A fifth player, linebacker Randy Stella, was booted off the team for violating unspecified team rules. <\/p>\n
Nebraska recently killed its men's swimming program, claiming it did not have the resources to support the team. No member of the men's (or women's) swim team was arrested — either in the preseason or during the entire season (imagine that!) , while several earned Big 12 conference academic honors.<\/p>\n
In just this pre-season alone, the Cornhuskers' football team has lost Stella, its top defensive player, for unspecified disciplinary reasons; and Thunder Collins, a reserve I-back, who was arrested for assaulting his live-in girlfriend, Nebraska basketball player Shannon Howell.<\/p>\n
In addition, kicker Josh Brown wwas suspended for one game (ONE GAME???) after being convicted of assault for fighting with a man on a date with his ex-girlfriend. <\/p>\n
