Heins is from Houston, Texas. She swims under\u00a0<strong>Gilbert Legaspi\u00a0<\/strong>for Swim Houston Aquatic Center. Heins also swims for Bellaire High School where she is the school record holder in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Primarily a butterflier and IMer, her best times are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>200 Fly 2:02.12<\/li>\n<li>100 Fly 56.90<\/li>\n<li>400 IM 4:24.46<\/li>\n<li>200 IM 2:06.00<\/li>\n<li>200 Free 1:53.19<\/li>\n<li>500 Free 5:02.23<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World<\/em> about her decision,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I chose UC San Diego because the coaches and team were some of the most welcoming and kind people I have ever met. I love their philosophy and energy and loved being around everyone. The school completely blew me away with the opportunities it provides in its top-notch education and the location is, of course, absolutely beautiful.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Tritons are the defending Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Champions. At last year&#8217;s meet Heins&#8217; best time would have won the 200 fly. UC San Diego&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jayna Wittenbrink\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth (2:06.01). She&#8217;ll be a senior in Heins&#8217; first year. Heins would also be a 100 fly A finalist.
