Queens University of Charlotte swimmers Paul Pijulet<\/strong> and McKenzie Stevens<\/strong> have been named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week, as announced Tuesday<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The seniors led Queens in competition this past weekend against NCAA Division I programs Liberty University, Virginia Military Institute and Virginia Tech in the Virginia Tech Spring Challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth Paul and McKenzie had excellent meets versus Division I powerhouse Virginia Tech,\u201d said Queens Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development\/ Director of Swimming Operations Jeff Dugdale. \u201cThey continue to lead both in and out of the water in showing that they are up for a challenge and not intimidated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pijulet began the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay race along with teammates Nicholas Arakelian, Marius Kusch and Ben Mayes. The team\u2019s time of 1:28.99 was just 0.17 ahead of Virginia Tech\u2019s \u2018A\u2019 relay team.<\/p>\n

The Paris, France native collected two individual wins of his own, finishing first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.26 and first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.94. Both marks were good enough to qualify the senior for an NCAA B Standard.<\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s side, Stevens was one of two Royals to tally a win in the event, taking first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.11. She also collected two runner-up finishes, one in the 100-yard freestyle race and another in the 100-yard butterfly.<\/p>\n

The Royals women\u2019s team with travel to No. 5 Wingate University on Friday<\/span> afternoon for their next meet, while the men\u2019s team hosts No. 8 Wingate on Saturday<\/span> morning.<\/p>\n
