The Pac-12 all-stars won the women&#8217;s side of the meet pretty handily thanks to wins from\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong>. Team USA came out on top on the men&#8217;s side, but it did not prove enough for them even with wins from\u00a0<strong>Tom Shields\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nic Fink<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Team USA is now 1-1 in the College Challenge after they beat the Big Ten last year in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2017-usa-college-challenge\/usa-senior-national\/2017\/October\/21\" target=\"_blank\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Today&#8217;s events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mixed 200 Medley Relay<\/li>\n<li>1000 Free<\/li>\n<li>200 Free<\/li>\n<li>100 Back<\/li>\n<li>100 Breast<\/li>\n<li>200 Fly<\/li>\n<li>50 Free<\/li>\n<li>200 IM<\/li>\n<li>400 Free Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Mixed 200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Pac-12 started off the Sunday session with a win in the mixed medley relay as they held off the USA team. The Pac-12 touched first at 1:28.87 to hold off a hard charging USA team at 1:28.99. Utah&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Catalin Ungur\u00a0<\/strong>(21.06),\u00a0Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Connor Hoppe\u00a0<\/strong>(23.53), Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Janet Hu\u00a0<\/strong>(23.02) and Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>(21.26) won the relay for the conference.<\/p>\n<p>The USA team almost caught the Pac-12 team on the final leg as\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>came up just short with a 18.83 anchor leg.\u00a0<strong>Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>(21.46),\u00a0<strong>Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>(25.51),\u00a0<strong>Amanda Kendall\u00a0<\/strong>(23.19) and Andrew swam for them. Ledecky is well ahead of the nation in that event as she moves past NC State senior\u00a0<strong>Hannah Moore\u00a0<\/strong>(9:39.67). <strong>Hannah Cox<\/strong> of Arizona finished second here for the Pac-12 at 9:32.24 to move to second in the national rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Team USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Madison Homovich\u00a0<\/strong>finished third at 9:37.78 as she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/madison-homovich-gives-verbal-commitment-georgia-bulldogs\/\" target=\"_blank\">will be<\/a> a freshman at Georgia next fall.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 1000 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Team USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1000 with an 8:45.71 to lead a 1-2-3 finish with fellow World Championship member\u00a0<strong>Clark Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(8:46.34).\u00a0<strong>Mitch D&#8217;Arrigo\u00a0<\/strong>(8:55.18) completed the sweep to give Team USA valuable points in the event. The Pac-12 got points from Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>True Sweetser\u00a0<\/strong>(8:59.78) and Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sean Grieshop\u00a0<\/strong>(9:06.35). Ledecky moves just past Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>in the national rankings (1:41.70). Ledecky tied Comerford for the NCAA titles in that event last year.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>and Pac-12&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson\u00a0<\/strong>tied for second at 1:43.19 as the Pac-12 picked up big points in that event. She finished ahead of Team USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(51.30) and Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Janet Hu\u00a0<\/strong>(51.61) of the Pac-12. Glinta was a finalist in the 100 back in Rio for Romania, but he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/romanian-olympian-robert-glinta-out-of-pool-indefinitely\/\" target=\"_blank\">did not compete<\/a> in Budapest this past summer.<\/p>\n<p>Glinta out-touched the last two Olympic champions in this event in\u00a0<strong>Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>(46.10) and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>(46.15). The Pac-12 could only manage the bottom half as USC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maggie Aroesty\u00a0<\/strong>(59.98) and\u00a0<strong>Riley Scott\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.16) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Team USA picked up valuable points as they closed the gap with that 1-2-3 sweep on the Pac-12.
