The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NEWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 7\/October 18 Polls for the 2017 season.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0University of Southern California<\/strong>\u00a0remains at No. 1 this week as the first six positions in the National Top 20 remain unchanged from the Week 6\/October 11 voting.<\/p>\n

The Division III Top 10 Poll once again experiences radical changes with\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0sticking at No. 1, but the reminder of the upper half of the rankings shifting in the wake of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship.<\/p>\n

Defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion\u00a0Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0hangs onto the top spot in the MAWPC Top Five rankings as a unanimous top selection, while\u00a0St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0rises to the top of the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five on the strength of a victory against former front-runnerPrinceton University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NEWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span>\u00a0during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.<\/p>\n

2017 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 7\/October 18)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The only thing constant is change \u2013 or the\u00a0University of Southern California\u00a0<\/strong>in men\u2019s varsity water polo \u2013 as the Trojans retain their position on top for the third week in a row by standing at No. 1 in the Week 7\/October 18 Men\u2019s Varsity National Top 20 Poll.<\/p>\n

USC (99 points) leads a Top 20 in which the Top Six remain unchanged with the\u00a0University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong>\u00a0(95 points), defending National Champion the\u00a0University of California<\/strong>\u00a0(92 points),\u00a0Stanford University<\/strong>\u00a0(85 points),\u00a0University of the Pacific<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points) and the\u00a0University of California-Irvine<\/strong>\u00a0(73 points) sticking at No. 2-to-6, respectively.<\/p>\n

The inaugural change in the Week 7\/October 18 Poll compared to its predecessor comes at No. 7 as\u00a0Pepperdine University<\/strong>\u00a0(66 points) jumps up two places.\u00a0\u00a0Long Beach State University<\/strong>\u00a0(66 points) slips to No. 8, while the\u00a0University of California-Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(59 points) and the\u00a0University of California-Santa Barbara<\/strong>\u00a0(56 points) complete a new-look Top 10.<\/p>\n

San Jose State University<\/strong>\u00a0(46 points) is the biggest mover of the week as the team improves five spots to take over at No. 11.\u00a0\u00a0St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0(45 points) acquires sole custody of the No. 12 berth with the\u00a0University of California-San Diego<\/strong>\u00a0(41 points),\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0(40 points) and\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0(32 points) coming in at No. 13-to-15, respectively.<\/p>\n

Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0(19 points),\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(18 points),\u00a0California Baptist University<\/strong>\u00a0(17 points),\u00a0Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(14 points) and\u00a0Fordham University<\/strong>\u00a0(5 points) complete the Top 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n2017 Men\u2019s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 7\/October 18)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Sagehens of\u00a0Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0remain at No. 1 in the Week 7\/October 18 Men\u2019s Varsity Division III poll.<\/p>\n

Pomona-Pitzer (96 points) leads a Top 10 which experiences significant changes in the wake of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition.<\/p>\n

Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(93 points), which downed former No. 2 the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0by an 11-10 score for the CWPA Division III title, trades spots with the Engineers to drop MIT (89 points) back to No. 3.<\/p>\n

Chapman University<\/strong>\u00a0(85 points) and the\u00a0University of Redlands<\/strong>\u00a0(82 points) rise and fall to stand at No. 4 and 5.<\/p>\n

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(73 points),\u00a0California Lutheran University<\/strong>\u00a0(52 points), the\u00a0University of La Verne<\/strong>\u00a0(35 points) and the\u00a0California Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(34 points) retain the No. 7-to-10 spots in completing the Top 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n2017 Men\u2019s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 7\/October 18)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0retains its Preseason, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6 selection as the No. 1 team in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) as the Bison top the Week 7\/October 18 Top Five Poll.<\/p>\n

The 2016 MAWPC Champion Bison (100 points) are once again a unanimous top selection after previously earning 100 points in the Preseason, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6 polls.<\/p>\n

Fordham University<\/strong>\u00a0(94 points),\u00a0George Washington University<\/strong>\u00a0(91 points) and\u00a0Wagner College<\/strong>\u00a0(84 points) remain at No. 2-to-4, respectively, with\u00a0Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(49 points) breaking into the Top Five by dislodging the\u00a0United States Naval Academy<\/strong>\u00a0(32 points) for the final position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n2017 Men\u2019s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 7\/October 18)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0becomes the third team to rank at No. 1 in the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five this season as the Terriers take over in the Week 7\/October 18 rankings.<\/p>\n

St. Francis Brooklyn (99 points), which topped former No. 1\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0by a score of 13-10 in Brooklyn last week, follows the Tigers (Week 5, Week 6) and 2016 NWPC Champion\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0(Preseason, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4) in leading the league rankings.<\/p>\n

Princeton (96 points) drops back to No. 2, while Harvard (89 points),\u00a0Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(86 points) and the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points) round out the Top Five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
