The Hokie women also finished on top of both the 200 and 400 free relays over the two-day meet.<\/p>\n<p>Florida State\u2019s stars performers included breaststroker <strong>Natalie Pierce<\/strong>, who won both the 100 (1:02.79) and 200 (2:17.62), and diver <strong>Ayla Bonniwell<\/strong>, who won the one-meter (284.40) and three-meter events (320.35).<\/p>\n<p>Duke\u2019s <strong>Verity Abel <\/strong>won both the 500 (4:53.41) and 1000 free (10:03.00), and teammate <strong>Alyssa Marsh<\/strong> took first twice on day two of the meet, in the 50 free (22.91) and 100 fly (54.52).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s Scores<br \/>\n<\/strong>Virginia Tech 209, Duke 144<br \/>\nVirginia Tech 194.5, Florida State 158.50<br \/>\nFlorida State 208, Duke 145<\/p>\n<p>The Duke men won both medley relays and the Florida State men took first in both sprint free relays, but the Hokie men lost only four other swimming events all day.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Tech freshman <strong>Lane Stone <\/strong>swept the 200 (1:38.78), 500 (4:27.24) and 1000 free (9:20.51) events, and teammate <strong>Norbert Szabo <\/strong>took first in both the 200 IM (1:50.61) and 200 fly (1:50.04). <strong>Justin Edwards <\/strong>won the 100 breast Friday in 55.93 and on Saturday added a win in the 200 breast (2:02.19).<\/p>\n<p>For the Blue Devils, <strong>Yusuke Legard <\/strong>won the 100 free in 44.52, <strong>Max St. George <\/strong>won the 100 back (47.95), and <strong>Evan Moretti <\/strong>picked up a win in three-meter diving (390.65).<\/p>\n<p>Florida State individual winners included <strong>Chad Mylin<\/strong> in the 50 free (20.12), <strong>Kanoa Kaleoaloha<\/strong> in the 100 fly (47.53) and <strong>Joshua Davidson <\/strong>in one-meter diving (390.65).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2017-duke-vs-virginia-tech-vs-florida-state-ncaa-college-2017-10-13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Full results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Texas A&amp;M &amp; Michigan State at Notre Dame<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Fighting Irish faced Texas A&amp;M in a two-day meet in South Bend, Ind., with Michigan State also participating in Friday\u2019s action). Texas A&amp;M swept the meets, winning the women\u2019s competition 211-136 and earning a 193.5-159.5 for the men.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zach Yeadon <\/strong>was the top performer of the weekend for the Irish, taking first in the 200 (1:38.37), 500 (4:26.91) and 1000 free (9:03.25), and teammate <strong>Justin Plaschka <\/strong>also won two events: the 100 fly (48.03) and 50 free (20.22).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robby Whitacre <\/strong>won the 100 back for Notre Dame in 48.59, and <strong>Tabahn Afrik<\/strong> joined Plaschka, <strong>Aaron Schultz <\/strong>and <strong>Daniel Speers <\/strong>to win the 400 free relay in 2:58.29.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Molly Treble\u2019s <\/strong>win in the 500 free (4:49.60) was the only Notre Dame winner on the first day of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>On day two, impressive sophomore <strong>Abbie Dolan<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:46.58, <strong>Lindsay Stone <\/strong>won the 1000 free in 9:51.07 and <strong>Claire Andrews <\/strong>won one-meter diving (285.90). In the final women\u2019s event of the meet, Dolan,<strong> Rachel Wittmer<\/strong>, <strong>Lauren Heller <\/strong>and <strong>Sofia Revilak Fonseca <\/strong>touched out A&amp;M to win the 400 free relay, 3:19.82 to 3:19.89.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2017-notre-dame-vs-texas-aandm-vs-michigan-state-ncaa-college-2017-10-13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Full results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Penn State at Virginia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Todd DeSorbo\u2019s <\/strong>debut meet as head coach of the Cavaliers went according to plan as Virginia\u2019s women and men each defeated Penn State. The women dominated the Nittany Lions, 184 to 104, while the men had to dig deep to earn a 151-149 triumph.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia women dominated the meet, and three different athletes picked up multiple individual wins. <strong>Caitlin Cooper <\/strong>won the 50 (23.11) and 100 free (50.85), while <strong>Emma Seiberlich<\/strong> won both the 200 back (1:57.68) and 100 fly (55.20).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kylie Towbin<\/strong> won one-meter (286.95) and three-meter diving (329.03). Senior <strong>Jen Marrkand<\/strong> picked up a 200 fly victory with her time of 1:57.89.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s men saw <strong>Brendan Casey <\/strong>win the 1000 free (9:21.77) and 200 back (1:47.69), while <strong>Sam Magnan<\/strong> took second in the 1000 free before edging Casey for a UVA 1-2 in the 500 free. Magnan posted a time of 4:30.25 in the 20-lap race.<\/p>\n<p>But Virginia needed a huge effort at meet\u2019s end to clinch the victory. <strong>Joe Clark<\/strong>, <strong>Ted Schubert<\/strong>, <strong>Bryce Keblish<\/strong> and <strong>Ryan Baker <\/strong>won the 400 free relay in 2:59.91, almost three seconds ahead of Penn State\u2019s top team.
