LAUSANNE, Switzerland, September 5.THE nine-day competition featuring the world's 20 best junior men's teams concluded on a high note in the welcoming city of Volos (GRE) with the Serbians crowned as new World Junior Champions. <\/p>\n
After losing to the Spaniards by a narrow margin in their first face-off during the preliminary round (5-6), the Serbians revamped their winning attitude to impose a crushing victory to their rivals (9-6) in the final match taking place on Sunday September 4. Serbia had won the bronze at the last edition in 2009. <\/p>\n
The battle for the minor medal played out between Greece and Australia, with the home squad winning by a two goal advantage (7-5) in front of a cheering crowd. Greece had finished second in 2009 after losing to Croatia. <\/p>\n
At the top of their respective group after the preliminaries, Italy and Croatia fought for the fifth place in the final round. The Italians eventually beat the defending champions 12-11. Montenegro and Hungary settled for seventh and eighth place, respectively.<\/p>\n
The tournament's Most Valuable Player was Marton Gyorgy Vamos (HUN) while Dimitride Risticevic (SRB) and Bence Batori (HUN) were voted the Most Valuable Goalkeeper and Leading Scorer, respectively.<\/p>\n
