The Cardinal already got a verbal from the number one recruit in Canadian Olympian<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-junior-gold-medalist-taylor-ruck-verbally-commits-to-stanford\/\"> <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong><\/a>. On Wednesday night, Stanford got another highly touted recruit in national junior team member<strong> Lucie Nordmann <\/strong>from Magnolia Aquatic Club in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Nordmann announced Wednesday night via her Instagram account that she will be joining the Stanford team in the fall of 2018. Nordmann was the swimmer of the meet at the 2017 Summer Junior Nationals and represented the United States at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Nordmann swam the 100 free in Indianapolis at World Juniors and finished ninth in the semi-finals with a 55.39. She went faster though leading off the 400 free relay with a 55.15, where the United States got a silver medal behind Canada. She also led off the 800 free relay team that finished fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Nordmann boasts best times of 22.68 and 48.85 in the sprint freestyle events. Stanford has produced a few great sprinters in <strong>Greg Meehan&#8217;s<\/strong> tenure, most notably Olympic gold medalist <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> and two-time relay Olympian <strong>Lia Neal<\/strong>. Nordmann also has a solid 200 free, although her SCY best time is only listed as a 1:49.31 from the 2015 NCSA&#8217;s. She swam a 2:00.01 long course at the Summer Juniors in Long Island in August.<\/p>\n<p>Nordmann is also a solid backstroker and butterfly with LCM times of 1:00.16 and 59.90 that she had at the 2016 and 2017 Juniors respectively. Her SCY times in those events are not as impressive as she has a 52.48 backstroke from 2017 Texas High School State and 54.93 butterfly from 2015 NCSA&#8217;s. She has plenty of room to grow in short course and Stanford will definitely be a good place to improve.<\/p>\n<p>Nordmann will be joining a stacked freshman class in the fall of 2018 that features Ruck,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-national-finalist-zoe-bartel-gives-verbal-commitment-to-stanford\/\">Zoe Bartel<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/amalie-fackenthal-adds-verbal-commitment-to-stanford-class-of-2022\/\"><strong>Amalie Fackenthal<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-snags-verbal-commit-from-indiana-sprinter-anya-goeders\/\"><strong>Anya Goeders<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-secures-breaststroker-allie-raabs-verbal-commitment\/\">Allie Raab<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford looks prime to win back to back national titles this spring in 2018.
