{"id":278975,"date":"2017-09-30T16:04:49","date_gmt":"2017-09-30T23:04:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=278975"},"modified":"2017-09-30T16:09:04","modified_gmt":"2017-09-30T23:09:04","slug":"usc-completes-weekend-sweep-of-cal-poly-and-ucsb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usc-completes-weekend-sweep-of-cal-poly-and-ucsb\/","title":{"rendered":"USC Completes Weekend Sweep of Cal Poly and UCSB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senior <strong>Dylan Carter<\/strong> and junior <strong>Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> captured two events each to lead the USC men\u2019s swimming and diving team to its second road win in 24 hours, a 153-141 victory at Cal Poly on Saturday (Sept. 30).<\/p>\n<p>Carter (20.36) and junior <strong>Kyle Grissom<\/strong> (20.99) went 1-2 in the 50y free and Carter won again in the 100y fly with a solid NCAA B cut of 47.10 with senior <strong>Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong> second in 49.86.<\/p>\n<p>Mulcare won the 200y back for the second day in a row with a 1:46.92 with senior <strong>Jon Knox<\/strong> second (1:50.30) and freshman Nikita Tretyakov touching third (1:51.26). Mulcare later claimed the 400y IM in 3:57.30.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Robert Glinta<\/strong> led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 100y back (48.07) with Mulcare second (48.31), both with B cuts in the process. Knox (50.17) and junior <strong>Alex Valente<\/strong> (53.24) followed to the wall.<\/p>\n<p>USC posted another sweep in the 100y free led by senior <strong>Santo Condorelli\u2019s<\/strong> 44.44, 0.15 off a B cut. Tribuntsov was second (44.62) and Glinta third (45.27).<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Jake Sannem<\/strong> notched USC\u2019s first win of the meet, winning the 200y free in 1:40.49, edging Cal Poly\u2019s <strong>Dominic Dalpiaz<\/strong> by 0.16.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans captured both relays, taking the 400y medley relay with Tribuntsov, junior <strong>Billy Monjay<\/strong>, Carter and Condorelli going 3:16.89 and then finishing the meet with a 1:22.04 to win the 200y free relay with Condorelli, Carter, Grissom and Tribuntsov.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2017-usc-vs-cal-poly-ncaa-college-2017-09-30.pdf\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212; UCSB Recap &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> won a pair of events while USC\u2019s 400y free relay took first to clinch the USC men\u2019s swimming and diving team\u2019s season-opening win at host UC Santa Barbara on Friday (Sept. 29).<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans secured the win as seniors <strong>Santo Condorelli<\/strong>,<strong> Dylan Carter<\/strong> and <strong>Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong> and freshman <strong>Justin Nguyen<\/strong> took first in the 400y free relay (2:58.67), safely almost three seconds ahead of the Gaucho relay.<\/p>\n<p>That complemented USC\u2019s win in the 200y medley relay to open the meet as Tribuntsov, junior <strong>Billy Monjay<\/strong>, Carter and Condorelli won the race in 1:30.07.<\/p>\n<p>Carter, the school record in the 200y free, won the race in 1:38.66 while Nguyen was second (1:40.16). Carter later took second in the 100y free (45.14).<\/p>\n<p>Tribuntsov, the school record holder in the 100y back, won the race today in 48.01 in an NCAA B standard time with Romanian freshman <strong>Robert Glinta<\/strong> behind him in 49.00.<\/p>\n<p>Monjay claimed the 100y breast in 57.36 with sophomore <strong>Mario Koenigsperger<\/strong> taking third (58.34). Monjay later finished second in the 200y breast (2:04.90) with Koenigsperger third (2:06.83).<\/p>\n<p>Mulcare captured his signature event, winning the 200y back in 1:46.63, 0.24 off the NCAA B cut, while Glinta was third in 1:49.73.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Alex Valente<\/strong> (1:50.62) and sophomore <strong>Mark Jurek<\/strong> (1:52.05) took second and third, respectively, in the 200y fly while senior <strong>Santo Condorelli<\/strong> (20.62) and Tribuntsov (20.95) went 2-3 in the 50y free.
