Their class now includes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/breaststroker-jason-mathews-stays-close-to-home-with-verbal-commit-to-ohio-state\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jason Mathews<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ben-kuriger-stays-local-verbally-commits-to-ohio-state\/\" target=\"_blank\">Benjamin Kuriger<\/a>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ohio-state-gets-three-more-verbals-hudson-mcdaniel-lain-weaver-and-rj-kondalski\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hudson McDaniel<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ohio-state-gets-three-more-verbals-hudson-mcdaniel-lain-weaver-and-rj-kondalski\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lain Weaver\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ohio-state-gets-three-more-verbals-hudson-mcdaniel-lain-weaver-and-rj-kondalski\/\" target=\"_blank\">and<\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ohio-state-gets-three-more-verbals-hudson-mcdaniel-lain-weaver-and-rj-kondalski\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<strong>RJ Kondalski<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Stefano Batista<\/h2>\n<p>Batista swims for Carmel Swim Club and is a senior at Carmel High School where he is a NISCA All-American.<\/p>\n<p>At last year&#8217;s Indiana Boys High School state championship Batista finished fourth in the 100 breast (55.94) and seventh in the 50 free (21.09). That was an improvement from his sophomore year when he touched sixth in the 100 breast (56.95). His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 breast SCY \u2013 55.94<\/li>\n<li>200 breast SCY \u2013 2:00.74<\/li>\n<li>50 free SCY \u2013 21.09<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He wrote on CollegeSwimming,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I fell in love with Ohio State during my official recruiting visit there. The guys on the team are extremely friendly and encouraging. The coaches are very knowledgeable and willing to do anything in their power to help their athletes. The buckeye nation spirit is unbelievable and I could not be more happy to become part of that amazing culture. The Ohio State University offers me everything I could possibly ask for to be successful both academically and in the pool. Go Bucks!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Josef Pohlmann<\/h2>\n<p>Pohlmann makes the move to Columbus from Beavercreek where he is a senior at Beavercreek High School and swims for the Dayton Raiders.<\/p>\n<p>Pohlmann is primarily a sprinter. His top times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 Free 21.05<\/li>\n<li>100 Free 47.37<\/li>\n<li>50 Fly 22.58<\/li>\n<li>100 Fly 49.77<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This summer he teamed up with\u00a0<strong>Cody Bybee<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Perera<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Eric Knowles\u00a0<\/strong>to set the National Age Group record in the 15-18 boys 200 freestyle relay. On the high school stage Pohlmann finished ninth in the 100 free and tenth in the 50 at the 2017 Ohio High School Division 1 Championships.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote on Instagram,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for The Ohio State University!
