﻿{"id":278469,"date":"2017-09-27T06:42:46","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T13:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=278469"},"modified":"2017-09-27T06:44:22","modified_gmt":"2017-09-27T13:44:22","slug":"ryan-held-dunk-tank-one-of-many-features-at-2017-wolfpack-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-held-dunk-tank-one-of-many-features-at-2017-wolfpack-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan Held Dunk Tank One of Many Features at 2017 Wolfpack Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>RALEIGH, N.C. &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0In what has become one of the most eagerly-anticipated events on the NC State athletics calendar, the NC State men&#8217;s &amp; women&#8217;s swimming &amp; diving team will be hosting the third annual Wolfpack Games on Friday Sept. 29 at 6:00 p.m.inside Willis R.\u00a0Casey Aquatic\u00a0Center.<\/p>\n<p>The entire team is eager to be in front of Wolfpack Nation for the first time in 2017-18, including junior <strong>Andreas Vazaios,<\/strong> who broke Greek National records in the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley at the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, over the summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think that the Wolfpack Games are kind of a family tradition,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to the fans and spectators having the opportunity to experience the energy and spirit that our team has. As for myself, I&#8217;m really happy that I am able to have a full season swimming short course, as a team we went through some changes but I totally believe we are even better now. We are training hard and supporting each other, the sky is the limit. Go Pack!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Hannah Moore<\/strong>, who recently earned U.S. National Team selection, is also eager to put on an entertaining evening for NC State fans, despite having mixed emotions about this being her final season with the Wolfpack.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fans can definitely expect an exciting atmosphere because Coach Holloway and the rest of the coaching staff work really hard to make this a fun event for the crowd,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s much different from a regular swim meet, but it&#8217;s an entertaining way to kick off the season nonetheless. Knowing this is my last season representing NC State makes me very sad, but looking around at the women I get to share it with is a blessing in itself. I couldn&#8217;t ask for a better team than the one we have this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Event Order<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>&#8220;Battle of the Sexes&#8221; 4&#215;50 Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Justin Ress<\/strong>, <strong>Ryan Held<\/strong>, <strong>Jacob Molacek<\/strong> and <strong>Giovanni Izzo<\/strong> will take on <strong>Ky-lee Perry<\/strong>, <strong>Courtney Caldwell<\/strong>, <strong>Krista Duffield<\/strong> and <strong>Lexie Lupton<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Diving Circus<\/h3>\n<p>Group one consists of\u00a0<strong>Harrison Mitchell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Stewart Spanbauer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>James Brady<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Holt Gray<\/strong>. Group two consists of\u00a0<strong>Madeline Kline<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Bailey Revels<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Rachel Burston<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>2017 ACC Championship Ring Presentation (Women)<\/h3>\n<p>Members of the 2017 ACC Champion NC State Women&#8217;s swimming &amp; diving team will be presented with their rings.<\/p>\n<h3>Mini Open Water<\/h3>\n<p>The race consists of five laps around four open water buoys that will be placed on each corner of the pool. Competitors include\u00a0<strong>Anton Ipsen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack McIntyre<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Matt O&#8217;Donnell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mason Revis<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gil Kiesler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Danny Erlenmeyer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lucca Martins<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hannah Moore<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Anna Jahns<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tamila Holub<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Moore<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0Julia Poole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Tug of War<\/h3>\n<p>One male and one female will be attached to one stretch cord. They will start in the middle of the pool and race toward the opposite side of the pool, with whoever touches the wall first will win that leg of the race. Women will be wearing fins.<\/p>\n<p>Representing Team One is\u00a0<strong>Hennessey Stuart<\/strong>\u00a0(backstroke),\u00a0<strong>Caroline Estep<\/strong> (backstroke),\u00a0<strong>Quinlan Stuart<\/strong>\u00a0(breaststroke),\u00a0<strong>Olga Lapteva<\/strong>\u00a0(breaststroke),\u00a0<strong>James Bretscher<\/strong>\u00a0(butterfly) and\u00a0<strong>Daniel Forndal<\/strong>\u00a0(freestyle).<\/p>\n<p>Team Two consists of\u00a0<strong>Lindsay Morrow<\/strong>\u00a0(backstroke),<strong>\u00a0Noah Hensley<\/strong>\u00a0(backstroke),\u00a0<strong>Jacqueline Clabeaux<\/strong> (breaststroke),\u00a0<strong>Eric Knowles<\/strong>\u00a0(breaststroke),\u00a0<strong>Emmie Barnhill<\/strong>\u00a0(butterfly) and\u00a0<strong>Mark McGlaughlin<\/strong>\u00a0(freestyle).<\/p>\n<h3>Power Medley<\/h3>\n<p>Each swimmer will be attached to a power tower and will swim 25 yards in a stroke they are assigned. Times recorded on each swim will be recorded, then added up at the end of the race. All women will be wearing fins.<\/p>\n<p>Opening with backstroke will be\u00a0<strong>Parker Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jacob Johnson<\/strong>\u00a0for Team One and\u00a0<strong>Mackenzie Glover<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Luke Sobolewski<\/strong>\u00a0for Team Two. They are followed by\u00a0<strong>Anna Shumate<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Patrik Schwarzenbach<\/strong>\u00a0in breaststroke, along with\u00a0<strong>Daniel Graber<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Rozhina McClanahan<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Jabari Baptiste<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Danika Huizinga<\/strong>\u00a0square off in butterfly next, while\u00a0<strong>Ray Van Deusen<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Olivia Calegan<\/strong>\u00a0anchor with freestyle against\u00a0<strong>Tyler Rice<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Cobe Garcia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 800 Freestyle Relay 2017 NCAA Championship Ring Ceremony<\/h3>\n<p>Ryan Held,\u00a0Justin Ress,\u00a0Andreas Vazaios\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Soren Dahl<\/strong>\u00a0will be presented their NCAA Championship rings following their performance at the NCAA Championships that saw them finish the 800 freestyle relay in 6:06.53, breaking the NCAA and U.S. Open records.
