Hardy finished her competitive career last summer, when she made the final\u00a0in the 100 breaststroke at the 2016 Olympic Trials. She was the American record holder in the 50 and 100 breast events until this summer, when <strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>broke both world records at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.\u00a0The two have been married since October of 2013. This marks the third time that Los Angeles will host the Olympics and the first time the Summer Olympics will return to the United State since 1996, when they were held in Atlanta. The move was official <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/international-olympic-committee-ratifies-tripartite-agreement-paris-2024-los-angeles-2028\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">following the IOC session in Lima<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where members agreed to ratify an agreement that simultaneously named the host cities for 2024 and 2028. As expected, the 2024 Games will be headed to Paris. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Japanese sprinter <\/span><b>Rikako Ikee <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rikako-ikee-sprints-to-new-50-free-world-junior-record\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lowered her own World Junior Record in the 50 meter freestyle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> once again. Competing at the National Sports Festival of Japan the 17-year-old touched the wall in 24.33 to take more than a tenth off her previous record of 24.48. That time was also a new national record for Japan, which brings Ikee\u2019s total number of long course national records to five. Ikee is currently the national record holder in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles and the 50 and 100 butterfly. Boudia took a year off after the most recent 2016 Olympics, announcing last summer that he would made a decision about retirement by the fall of 2017. Boudia made the announcement at his alma mater, Purdue, alongside his longtime coach <\/span><b>Adam Soldati<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Should Boudia qualify for the 2020 Games he will be 31 years old, the second oldest diver to make the U.S. Diving Team behind <\/span><b>Troy Dumais <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2012, and could be the second male diver behind Dumais to qualify for four Olympic Teams. Boudia\u2019s Olympic debut came in 2008 in Beijing, where he finished fifth on synchronized 10-meter and 10th in the individual 10-meter. He has gone on to win an Olympic gold, silver, and two bronze medals in two more Olympic Games. Dressel was one of the breakout stars of the 2017 FINA World Championships for the United States, bringing home seven titles to tie <\/span><b>Michael Phelps <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as the only swimmer to win that many titles in a single World Championship. He also became the first swimmer in history to win three different world titles on the the same day, earning gold in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and the mixed 400 free relay on June 29 in Budapest. Dressel also set three individual American records throughout the meet in the 50 free, 100 free, and 50 fly. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-chuck-wielgus-ashley-twichell-jordan-wilimovsky-and-others-receive-usa-swimming-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several other awards were presented at the event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including the 2017 USA Swimming Award which was present to the late <\/span><b>Chuck Wielgus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the former executive director of USA Swimming who passed away in the spring.
