Both genders will race 5,000 meters with the women&#8217;s race beginning\u00a0at 8:30 a.m. and\u00a0the men&#8217;s competition starting\u00a0at 10:30.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s event will include 54 females (<a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/cscaa-open-water-women-start-list.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">start list<\/a>) and 42 males (<a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/cscaa-open-water-men-start-list.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">start list<\/a>), compared to 35 and 33 entries, respectively from last year.<\/p>\n<p>The host team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kansas-women-cincinnati-men-take-inaugural-cscaa-national-collegiate-open-water-team-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\">swept the women&#8217;s event in last year&#8217;s inaugural meet<\/a>, as\u00a0<strong>Haley Bishop<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Libby Walker<\/strong>\u00a0tied for first and freshman\u00a0<strong>Jenny Nusbaum\u00a0<\/strong>took the bronze. All three Jayhawks will return in this year&#8217;s race. He will be racing with teammates <strong>Santiago Aguilar<\/strong>, <strong>Mathieu Danjou<\/strong>, <strong>Rafael Mendes<\/strong> and <strong>Alex Sobers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Carson-Newman earned runner-up team honors last season, and will be led by <strong>Marcelo Figueredo <\/strong>in their 2017 campaign. <strong>Casey Charles<\/strong>, <strong>Caleb Howell<\/strong>, <strong>Josh Winn<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Carson Knox<\/strong> and <strong>Josh Terrell<\/strong> will round out the Eagles&#8217; roster.<\/p>\n<p>They will be challenged by St. Louis, Albion, Northern Michigan, George Washington and Texas A&amp;M.<\/p>\n<p>The top three finishers from each team, using cross country scoring, contribute to their team&#8217;s scores.
