The announcement was made via their Facebook page:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Ffikeswimproducts%2Fvideos%2F1920892588232865%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Grothe joins a group of accomplished Fike ambassadors in World Champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=eva+fabian\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Eva Fabian<\/strong><\/a>, Australian National Age Group Record Holder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=Zac+Stubblety-Cook\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Zac Stubblety-Cook<\/strong><\/a>, Paralympian <strong>Lizzi Smith<\/strong> and Ironman Champion <strong>David Kahn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Before reaching the podium in Budapest, Grothe was a standout swimmer at Auburn, where he holds seven school records. He is also a five-time U.S. Open Champion ranging from the 200 to 1500 meter freestyles, and is a two-time U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/zane-grothe-uses-stellar-back-half-to-steal-400-free\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Champion in the 400 meter free<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;Joining Fike Swim is an exciting experience for me,&#8221; Grothe <a href=\"https:\/\/fikeswim.com\/pages\/zane-grothe\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. &#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to working with a company that has true athlete feedback and values at the core of its product research and development. Being a part of the Fike Swim ambassadors team is a step in the right direction for my career, and I can&#8217;t wait to add to their brand.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The company has been hinting at the news for the last week, posting updates to their Facebook page:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Ffikeswimproducts%2Fposts%2F1918359045152886&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"671\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Grothe also discussed his college experience, which swimmers he looks up to and how he trains in an interview with Fike Swim.<\/p>\n<h2>Q &amp; A with Zane Grothe<\/h2>\n<p><em>Provided by Fike Swim<\/em><\/p>\n<div><strong>Q: Who is your coach and which team do you compete for?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Indiana University under <strong>Mike Westphal<\/strong> and <strong>Ray Looze<\/strong>&#8220;<\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What is your favorite event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;50 free. It&#8217;s not my best so when I get to swim it there&#8217;s no pressure. Fast or slow I have a fun time doing it either way. (And I usually beat someone who I should not so that&#8217;s always fun)&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: How many yards per week do you train?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;At max volume I will be around 80k-85k yards per week.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What does an average set look like?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;15&#215;200 @ 2:10\u00a0SCY, threshold, the best I&#8217;ve ever done on this set was last fall: 6&#215;1:46, 3&#215;1:45, 2&#215;1:44, 3&#215;1:43, 1&#215;1:39&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What are your goals for next season?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;I would like to see in-season best times multiple times, end of the season PR&#8217;s, and medals at the Pan Pacific Championships.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What are your practice goals to help you reach your race goals?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Show up to every workout, and accomplish what coach tells me to do. Also better consistency with practice performance and better techniques for the range of free events I do.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: Favorite dryland exercise?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Bear crawls&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q:\u00a0Favorite post-workout meal?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Rotini with turkey marinara sauce.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: How did you get into swimming?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;My parents got me into swimming when I was just a baby. We had a boat and lived by a lake. Water safety classes turned into novice swim lessons, and before I knew it I was competing at World Championships.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What is something most people don&#8217;t know about you?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;I bet most people don&#8217;t know I rode a Razor scooter around campus for all 4 years of college. I can&#8217;t really do any tricks, but I can ride like a pro.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Q: What was your major at Auburn?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Aerospace Engineering&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><strong>Q: Who is your swimming idol?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>A: &#8220;Right now it&#8217;s <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>. It&#8217;s almost as if he swims under the impression that he doesn&#8217;t know the fastest times in history.
