Van den Hoogenband returned to Sydney for a Dutch documentary project and spent much of the day with his old Australian rival. The Dutchman has strong connections to Australia, with his former coach <\/span><b>Jacco Verhaeren<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> now serving as the National Head Coach for Swimming Australia. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week USA Swimming <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-announces-national-junior-team-for-2017-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">named the members of the 2017-18 National Junior Team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, one week after naming the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-announces-the-2017-18-national-team-athlete-coach-rosters\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2017-18 USA National Team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In total, 67 athletes were named to the roster for the upcoming year. The meet, which was created by the CSCAA to provide more opportunities for post-season competition among Division I swimmers and divers, will take place from March 8-10, one week before women\u2019s NCAAs and two weeks before men\u2019s NCAAs. To qualify for the meet, swimmers must have achieved a \u2018B\u2019 cut standard in their event or have won\u00a0their respective conference championship title. <\/span><b>Joel Shinofield<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Executive Director of the CSCAA, explained this as a way to match post-season opportunities to the increase in men\u2019s and women\u2019s NCAA swimming and diving programs across the country. A warrant was also issued for Nuzman\u2019s associate, <\/span><b>Arthur Cesar de Menezes Soares Filho<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The warrant is based on charges that Nuzman and Filho were involved in a bribery scandal related to the awarding of the 2016 Olympic Games. Rio governor <\/span><b>Sergio Cabral <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/former-rio-governor-connected-to-olympic-bribery-case\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also been implicated in the bribery case through collaborations with the man known as &#8220;King Arthur&#8221;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Nuzman was a former member of the International Olympic Committee and is just one of eleven people for whom warrants were issued for alleged bribes related to the awarding of the 2016 Olympics. Olympian <\/span><b>Cammile Adams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who was born and raised in Houston and recently moved back to the city, has organized a donation drive for swimming equipment. \u201cObviously I wanted to do something to give back to all these families, and being in the swimming world, I thought, \u2018How many swimmers have been displaced?\u2019\u201d Adams said. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot.\u201d Adams is also joining forces with fellow Olympian <\/span><b>Allison Schmitt <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/hurricane-harvey-fundraising-event-for-swimmers-houston-tx-not-a-clinic-registration-37555442339\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hold a fundraising event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cRace an Olympian,\u201d on September 24 at Westside High School. Kingwood High School alum <\/span><b>Laura Ledlow Fine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has also started a fundraising effort to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kingwood-high-school-fundraising-to-restore-pool-after-harvey\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">restore the KHS pool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while LSU\u2019s swimming and diving program <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lsu-swimming-and-diving-aids-in-hurricane-harvey-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has also donated gear<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the University of Houston swim team.
