PHOENIX, Arizona, July 25. TODAY, the Phoenix Swim Club announced that it had hired a new full-time head coach for its club, Coley Stickels previously of Lake Oswego Swim Club. The move is a bit of a homecoming for Stickels, who swam and graduated at the University of Arizona in 2001.<\/p>\n

After an exhaustive national search, the Board of Directors would like to announce the hiring of Coley Stickels as the new head coach of the Phoenix Swim Club. Coley comes to us from Lake Oswego (OR) Swim Club where he has been the head coach since 2003 and has had an incredible record of success helping young people find their full potential in life through training, swimming, and racing. A brief list of these successes, both inside and outside the pool, include:
\n\u2022\t30 #1 Nationally ranked individual and relay swimmers
\n\u2022\t7 National Age Group record holders
\n\u2022\t3 Olympic Trials qualifiers in 2008 including the youngest to qualify for the Trials (12 Year Old)
\n\u2022\t4 World ranked athletes
\n\u2022\tAmerican Swim Coaches Association Coach of the Year recipient in 2007
\n\u2022\tProduced over 100 Oregon State Records
\n\u2022\tHead coach of the South African Pan Pacific swim team in 2010 <\/p>\n
Prior to coaching at Lake Oswego Swim Club, Coley was the assistant Men's and Women's Swim Coach at Dartmouth University. <\/p>\n
Coley swam and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts – Media Relations and a degree in English (Cum Laude, 3.65 GPA). In addition to his academic success at the U of A, Coley had a stellar swimming career which included:

\n\u2022\tNCAA Bronze Medalist in 1998
\n\u2022\tUS World Championship Team member and US Open Record Holder in 1999
\n\u2022\tNCAA Silver Medalist and Olympic Trials finalist in 2000
\n\u2022\tTop 25 World ranked swimmer <\/p>\n
We are all very excited to have Coley join PSC. As soon as his schedule permits and at the appropriate time, we will have a formal club meeting to introduce Coley. As we all know, this has been a long process. Albeit long and arduous, this process has led us to hiring a phenomenal coach with a resume that speaks for itself. We want to thank our current coaching team for their patience and diligence through the long course season. We also want to thank Coach Brian Hoffer, who through his leadership and assistance, gave us excellent insight on the best candidates to interview.
