Mixed 400 Medley Relay<\/h2>\n

A handful of notable splits came out of the mixed medley relays this evening. Canada ultimately won the gold between the quartet of\u00a0Taylor Ruck<\/strong>,\u00a0Gabe Mastromatteo<\/strong>,\u00a0Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Rusian Gaziev<\/strong>. USA’s\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong>,\u00a0Reece Whitley<\/strong>,\u00a0Nicolas Albiero<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Grace Ariola<\/strong>\u00a0were close behind in 3:46.80.<\/p>\n

Smith led off the race in a blazing 58.95 100 back, .16 faster than her meet record performance earlier in the night. Whitley then dipped under the 1:00 mark on the breaststroke leg, but Canada’s Oleksiak made a huge difference in the fly leg. Her 56.98 split put Gaziev in striking distance of Ariola.<\/p>\n

Russia rounded out the podium in 3:48.32 between\u00a0Polina Egorova<\/strong>,\u00a0Evengii Somov<\/strong>,\u00a0Egor Kuimov<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Vasillissa Buinaia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
