His time of 2:00.15 was more than six tenths ahead of the rest of the field. Ikee, the World Junior Record-holder in the 50 free, 50 fly and 200 IM, will also compete in both 50s as well as the 100 fly this week.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong> qualified second behind Ikee in 54.84, and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Freya Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>also broke 55 in qualifying third, touching in 54.38. But looming in third is Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong>, the World Championships silver medalist and World Junior Record-holder (50.62). Milak qualified third in 53.07.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth went to\u00a0<strong>Jan Friese\u00a0<\/strong>of Germany in 53.10, and he was followed by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shen Jiahao\u00a0<\/strong>(53.28), Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shinnousuke Ishikawa\u00a0<\/strong>(53.28), Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Peters\u00a0<\/strong>(53.32) and Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Brunt\u00a0<\/strong>(53.36) to round out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yuka Sakamoto\u00a0<\/strong>claimed ninth in 53.38, and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrei Minakov\u00a0<\/strong>(53.51), Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Federico Burdisso\u00a0<\/strong>(53.55) and Turkey&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Umitcan Gures\u00a0<\/strong>(53.61) took 10th through 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Americans\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>(53.70) and\u00a0<strong>Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>(53.85) cut it close, but both got into the semis, qualifying 13th and 15th, respectively. Belarus&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Antani Ivanov\u00a0<\/strong>took 14th in 53.83, and Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matheus Gonche\u00a0<\/strong>tied Kibler for 15th to round out the Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Large\u00a0<\/strong>had recorded in the previous heat.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mabel Zavaros\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:10.57, and another Briton,\u00a0<strong>Keanna Macinnes<\/strong>, took fourth in 2:10.87.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ye Hulyan\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.59), Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Boglarka Bonecz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.11), Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Julia Mrozinski\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.60) and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Victoria Kwan\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.83) also made the final.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time all meet, an American swimmer missed out on advancing, and in fact both did.\u00a0<strong>Madison Homovich\u00a0<\/strong>finished 10th in 2:13.07, American\u00a0<strong>Patrick Callan<\/strong>, meanwhile, won the final hat in 1:48.02, holding off Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nandor Nemeth\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.10) at the finish.<\/p>\n<p>Another Hungarian,\u00a0<strong>Richard Marton<\/strong>, qualified fourth in 1:48.48, just ahead of Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elijah Winnington\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.52).
