Ryosuke Irie threw down his fourth 1:54 effort of the year in the men's 200 back with a meet-record performance of 1:54.54. Irie has also posted times of 1:54.08, 1:54.55 and 1:54.62 this year. Kazuki Watanabe took second in 1:58.21, a second back of his seventh-ranked best of 1:57.21. Peter Bernek completed the top three in 2:00.09. <\/p>\n
Aya Terakawa captured the women's 50 back title going away with a 28.09. Terakawa holds the top spot in the world this year with a 27.79 from April. Grace Loh tied Mercedes Peris Minguet for second with matching times of 28.51.<\/p>\n
Matt Targett earned the men's 50 fly victory in 23.43. His best time this year is a 23.27 that puts him on the top of the world rankings. Roland Schoeman finished second in 23.86, while Rafa Munoz Perez took third in 23.88.<\/p>\n
Takeshi Matsuda dropped a 1:55.25 to win the men's 200 fly tonight, short of his top-ranked season best of 1:54.12. Ryusuke Sakata took second in 1:55.80, after clocking a 1:55.11 for second in the world in April. Kaio Almeida finished third in 1:56.00, off his third-ranked 1:55.22, while Laszlo Cseh placed fourth in 1:56.50. <\/p>\n
Therese Alshammar snatched the women's 50 fly crown in 25.69, just off her second-ranked season best of 25.66 from March. Sarah Sjostrom touched second in 26.08, while Melanie Henique finished third in 26.41. Sjostrom's top time this season ranks her third with a 25.67, while Henique came up short of her eighth-ranked 26.19.<\/p>\n
Gerhard Zandberg won the men's 50 back with a meet-record time of 24.96. That performance just missed Zandberg's third-ranked season best of 24.90 from South African in April. Australia's Ben Treffers took second in 25.02, while Junya Koga grabbed third in 25.29. Treffers moved into a sixth-ranked tie with Sun Xiaolei, while Koga has been faster with a fifth-ranked 24.97. <\/p>\n
Natsumi Hoshi, who stands fourth in the world rankings with a 2:06.05 in the women's 200 fly, turned in a meet-record 2:07.40 for the win this evening. Martina Granstrom finished second in 2:08.03, while Jessicah Schipper took third in 2:10.55. Granstrom improved to 12th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n
Alexander Dale Oen improved to fifth in the world in the men's 100 breast with a meet-record time of 1:00.29. Only Kosuke Kitajima (59.44), Yuta Suenaga (59.93), Brenton Rickard (1:00.12) and Felipe Silva (1:00.20) have been faster this year. Ryo Tateishi finished second in 1:00.94, while Cameron van der Burgh claimed third in 1:01.14. <\/p>\n
Camille Muffat crushed the field in the women's 400 free with a winning time of 4:06.93. That time was more than a second off her season best of 4:05.70 that stands seventh in the world. Ophelie Cyrielle Etienne earned second in 4:12.35, while Lieke Verouden finished third in 4:15.26. <\/p>\n
In one of the most exciting finishes of the night, Anastasia Zueva touched out Shiho Sakai, 2:08.74 to 2:08.91, in the women's 200 back. Zueva (2:07.91) and Sakai (2:07.98) have been faster this year with second and fourth ranked season bests. Sinead Russell pocketed third in 2:10.84, off her 10th ranked season best of 2:08.89.<\/p>\n
In another epic battle, Satomi Suzuki emerged victorious from a quartet of 1:08 performers in the women's 100 breast. Suzuki won in 1:08.30, while Samantha Marshall (1:08.37), Jennie Johansson (1:08.53) and Joline Hostman (1:08.87) all cleared 1:09 to comprise the top four in the event tonight.<\/p>\n
Sjostrom touched out Veronika Popova and Camille Muffat, 54.55 to 54.68 and 54.74, for the women's 100 free victory. James Roberts captured the men's 100 free title in 49.02. Targett finished second in 49.20, while Jeremy Stravius wound up third in 49.22. <\/p>\n
