The fourth morning of prelims at Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, N.Y., featured two swims in the 1:50-range in the men’s 200 free, as\u00a0Alex Zettle\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong>, each event winners earlier in the week, set up a tight duel in the final.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0Easop Lee\u00a0<\/strong>put up a strong swim in the women’s 200 free, as did\u00a0Daniel Roy\u00a0<\/strong>in the men’s 200 breast. Read below for full coverage of the morning session.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Free<\/h3>\n

North Baltimore’s\u00a0Easop Lee<\/strong>\u00a0paced the field in the women’s 200 free with a top time of 2:01.33, just topping the 2:01.39 recorded by Enfinity’s\u00a0Olivia Carter\u00a0<\/strong>in an early heat. Lee finished 20th in the event at the FINA World Championships last month while representing South Korea, while Carter won the 200 fly at Juniors on night one.<\/p>\n

La Mirada Armada’s\u00a0Taylor Ault<\/strong>, the 400 free winner Thursday night, qualified third in 2:01.45, just ahead of Gator’s\u00a0Isabel Ivey<\/strong> (2:01.48).<\/p>\n

Other A-finalists in a strong field included Pleasanton’s\u00a0Miranda Heckman<\/strong> (2:01.61), Brea Aquatics’\u00a0Kenisha Liu<\/strong> (2:01.81), Lakeside’s\u00a0Lauren Pitzer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.90) and Austin Swim Club’s\u00a0Dakota Luther\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.97). Liu has already picked up the 100 free win this week, while Luther set a meet record in the women’s 100 fly Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Magnolia’s\u00a0Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> (2:02.03) and Greater Tampa’s\u00a0Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> (2:02.22) both just missed out on the final.<\/p>\n

The meet record in this event is 1:58.26, set by Olympian\u00a0Lia Neal<\/strong> in 2011. With both Lee and Ivey having been 1:58s in the past, that record could be challenged in the evening.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Free<\/h3>\n
Lakeside’s\u00a0Alex Zettle<\/strong>, fresh off a win Thursday night in the 400 free, topped prelims of the 200-meter distance in 1:50.03, but he will have to work hard in the final to hold off Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong>. Foster, the 200 fly and 200 back champion at Juniors, qualified in 1:50.48 after anchoring his team’s 800 free relay Thursday night in 1:49.99.<\/p>\n
North Texas Nadadores’\u00a0Jack LeVant\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in prelims in 1:51.04, ahead of Team Greenville’s\u00a0Tal Davis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.47) and Nation’s Capital’s\u00a0Lane Stone\u00a0<\/strong>(1:51.61). Nitro’s\u00a0Shaine Casas<\/strong>, the 100 fly winner from Thursday, took sixth in 1:51.65.<\/p>\n
Securing the outside lanes for the final were Irvine Novaquatics teammates\u00a0Andrew Koustik\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.11) and\u00a0Owen Kao\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.30).<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Breast<\/h3>\n
15-year-old\u00a0Claire Donan\u00a0<\/strong>from Triton Swimming recorded the top time in the women’s 200 breast prelims at 2:31.18, about ofur tenths ahead of Texas Ford’s\u00a0Rachel Ramey<\/strong> (2:31.57). Crow Canyon’s\u00a0Zoe Hartman<\/strong>, who opened her week at Juniors with a win in the 100 breast, was third in 2:32.17.<\/p>\n
Chelsea Piers’\u00a0Kaki Christensen<\/strong> qualified fourth in 2:33.55, followed by Lakeside’s\u00a0Emma Garfield\u00a0<\/strong>(2:33.62), Waves Bloomington’s\u00a0Noelle Peplowski<\/strong> (2:33.94), Terrapins’\u00a0Emily Lo\u00a0<\/strong>(2:33.99) and Lake Erie Silver Dophin’s\u00a0Laura Goettler<\/strong> (2:34.94).<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Breast<\/h3>\n
King’s\u00a0Daniel Roy<\/strong> put on a show in prelims as he powered his way to a 2:12.31, narrowly missing the meet record of 2:12.17 set by\u00a0Reece Whitley<\/strong> two years ago. Roy, who won the 100 breast Tuesday in 1:01.42 and will join Whitley in the 200 breast at the World Junior Championships later this month, has a lifetime best time of 2:11.92.<\/p>\n
Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Jake Foster<\/strong>, the 400 IM winner from Wednesday, qualified second in 2:14.97, and Ridgefield’s\u00a0AJ Bornstein\u00a0<\/strong>qualified third in 2:15.75.<\/p>\n
Team Rebel’s\u00a0Zane Backes\u00a0<\/strong>edged out Crimson’s\u00a0Calvin Yang\u00a0<\/strong>for the No. 4 seed, 2:16.34 to 2:16.59, and others making the A-final included Backes’ teammate\u00a0AJ Pouch<\/strong> (2:17.59), Portland’s\u00a0Josh Bottleberghe\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.60) and King’s\u00a0Ethan Deng\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.80).<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Back<\/h3>\n
Gator’s\u00a0Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>qualified for her second championship final of the day, recording a 1:01.81 in the 100 back about two hours after she finished fourth in the 200 free prelims. Joining Ivey under 1:01 in the finals were Magnolia’s\u00a0Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> (1:01.90) and Missoula’s\u00a0Katharine Berkoff\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.97).<\/p>\n
Nordmann entered the meet as the top seed, holding a lifetime best time of 1:00.16, and with an outstanding swim, she could challenge\u00a0Rachel Bootsma’s\u00a0<\/strong>meet record of 59.77.<\/p>\n
Fastjets’\u00a0Isabel Stadden\u00a0<\/strong>qualified fourth in 1:02.02. SwimMAC’s\u00a0Sinclair Larson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.25) and\u00a0Julia Menkhaus\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.41), Beach Cities’\u00a0Alexandra Crisera\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.42) and Indiana’s\u00a0Grace Haskett\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.66) finished fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.<\/p>\n

Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Carson Foster\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the top seed in the 100 back, earning himself a second finals swim for the evening after already qualifying second in the 200 free. Foster posted a time of 55.93 to secure the middle lane, while Nitro’s\u00a0Shaine Casas\u00a0<\/strong>also will double up with the 200 free and 100 back after qualifying second in 56.13.<\/p>\n
Academy Bullets’\u00a0Spencer Walker\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 56.69, and also breaking 57 were Katy Aquatic Team’s\u00a0Glen Cowand\u00a0<\/strong>(56.76) and Aquajets’\u00a0Jack Dahlgren\u00a0<\/strong>(56.91).<\/p>\n
Other finalists included Nitro’s\u00a0Isaac Gwin\u00a0<\/strong>(57.46), Fort Collins’\u00a0Danny Kovac\u00a0<\/strong>(57.52) and Pacific Swim’s\u00a0Hayden Cornellison\u00a0<\/strong>(57.60).<\/p>\n
