Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>, Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> and Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> continued impressive showings at the World Cup. The Eindhoven World Cup stop is the last stop on the European tour before the series halts and will resume in Hong Kong on September 30.<\/p>\n

Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong> and Alia Atkinson<\/strong> started the morning off by tying in the prelims of the 100 breast. The two were in separate heats but turned in identical times of 1:04.75 to be tied at the number one seed, just like how they are tied for the world record. USA’s Breeja Larson<\/strong> is third with a 1:05.39.<\/p>\n

The men’s 100 back had Japan’s Masaki Kaneko<\/strong> leading the heats with a 51.08 ahead of Norway’s Markus Lie<\/strong> (51.36) and Russia’s Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> (51.53).<\/p>\n

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> is the top seed for the women’s 100 free with a 51.02 in the heats. She narrowly missed her world record of 50.77 from the Moscow World Cup last week. Sjostrom is ahead of the legendary Dutch duo of Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> (52.48) and Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> (52.54). Australia’s Cate Campbell<\/strong> (52.55) and USA’s Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> (52.86) are also in the final.<\/p>\n

Norway’s Henrik Christiansen<\/strong> had the fastest 400 free of the morning with a 3:43.30 ahead of the Dutch duo of Maarten Brzoskowski<\/strong> (3:47.58) and Ferry Weertman<\/strong> (3:49.67).<\/p>\n

Mireia Belmonte<\/strong> made her first appearance of the World Cup with a 2:05.65 in the heats of the women’s 200 fly. Belmonte is ahead of Germany’s Franziska Hentke<\/strong> (2:08.19) and Switzerland’s Martina van Berkel<\/strong> (2:08.77).<\/p>\n

Hong Kong’s Kenneth To<\/strong> had the fastest 100 IM of the morning with a 52.35. The former Australian is ahead of the Netherlands’ Kyle Stolk<\/strong> (52.54) and Germany’s Philip Heintz<\/strong> (53.00).<\/p>\n

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> led a bare showing of the heats of the 200 back with a 2:00.53. Tessa Vermuelen<\/strong> (2:10.45) and Marieke Tienstra<\/strong> (2:11.90) were second and third in the six person event.<\/p>\n

The men’s 200 fly had a quick time from Tom Shields<\/strong> in the prelims with a 1:50.71 ahead of Pace Clark<\/strong> (1:53.74). The Netherlands’ Joeri Verlinden<\/strong> (1:53.97) is the third seed for the final.<\/p>\n

South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> swam the quickest 50 breast of the heats with a 25.96 ahead of Belarus’ Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong> (26.20) and Russia’s Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> (26.21).<\/p>\n

Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> returned to the pool a little later to lead the 200 IM prelims with a 2:04.94 ahead of USA’s Ella Eastin<\/strong> (2:09.14) and Australia’s Blair Evans<\/strong> (2:09.95).<\/p>\n

Italy’s Marco Orsi<\/strong> swam the number one time of the prelims in the 50 free with a 21.31 ahead of Netherlands’ Jesse Puts<\/strong> (21.40) and Thom de Boer<\/strong> (21.44).
