SANTA CLARA, California, May 23. THE CIF Central Coast Section High School Championships took place Saturday, May 22 at the Santa Clara International Swim Center.<\/p>\n
Girls Results<\/b>
\nPalo Alto's Jasmine Tosky highlighted the competition with two wins and one national high school record. Tosky, a member of this summer's U.S. World Championship team, clocked 51.92 in prelims of the 100 fly to shatter Misty Hyman's 1996 record of 52.41 before winning the final in 52.20, also under Hyman's old record.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the meet, Tosky had won the 200 free in 1:44.20, just coming up short of her meet record of 1:44.11 set last year. Finally, Tosky joined teammates Margaret Wenzlau, Jayna Wittenbrink, and Sarah Liang to win the 200 free relay in 1:34.50, with Tosky providing a 22.24 anchor split. Tosky also posted a 48.15 split on Palo Alto's third-place 400 free relay.<\/p>\n
St. Francis' Maddy Schaefer and SHP's Alicia Howe both earned double individual victories as well. Schaefer swept the 50 (22.31) and 100 free (48.64), while Howe won the 200 IM (2:00.24) and 100 back, setting a pair of meet records in the later race. Howe clocked 53.95 in prelims and a winning-53.31 in the final. Additionally, Woodside's Alicia Grimm won the 500 free (4:52.00) and Mitty's Eva Chen took the 100 breast (1:02.32).<\/p>\n
Mitty's team of Haley Smith, Chen, Charlotte Ruby, and Mackenzie Chock took the 200 medley relay (1:45.80), while Gunn's Rachael Acker, Julia Ama, Christine Prior, and Casey Lincoln grabbed the win in the 400 free relay (3:26.24). Milpitas' Alexa Cacao won one meter diving with 486.10 points.<\/p>\n
Boys Results<\/b>
\nSHP's Tom Kremer and Los Gatos' Erich Peske each doubled on the boys' side. Kremer set a meet record of 1:36.74 to win the 200 free and later won the 100 back in 48.50. Finally, he led off SHP's 400 free relay in 45.13, faster than the winning time in the individual 100 free. Kremer, Andrew Savage, Kyle Koenig, and Bret Hinrichs won that relay in 3:07.36.<\/p>\n
Peske, meanwhile won the 50 free (20.86) and 100 fly (48.08). One more meet record fell in the 500 free, where Saratoga's Adam Hinshaw clocked 4:19.08 to crush the mark of 4:21.54 set by brother Ben in 2009. Hinshaw will join his brother at Cal in the fall. Meanwhile, Bellarmine swept the remaining relays; Stephen Shilling, Christian Bedell, Christopher Scheaffer, and Alex Amm won the 200 medley (1:32.53), while Schaeffer, Luke Powers, Mitchell Hamilton, and Sam Shimomura won the 200 free (1:25.25).<\/p>\n
Mvc's Andrew Porter took the win in the 200 IM (1:47.51), while Saratoga's Ian Burns won the 100 free (45.83) and St. Francis' Curtis Ogren the 100 breast (56.55). Kings' Zhipeng Zeng won one meter diving in a meet record total of 662.15 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
