The third morning session at Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, N.Y., featured only two events each in the women’s and men’s competition. Top seeds included\u00a0Easop Lee\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jack LeVant\u00a0<\/strong>in the 400 free and\u00a0Dakota Luther\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Shaine Casas\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 fly, and LeVant and Luther could each make runs at long-standing meet records in the final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 Free<\/h3>\n

North Baltimore’s\u00a0Easop Lee\u00a0<\/strong>edged out Pleasanton’s\u00a0Miranda Heckman<\/strong> to win the final heat of the women’s 400 free, and that duo ended up claiming the top two seeds for the championship final. Lee clocked 4:14.91, and Heckman swam a time of 4:15.06.<\/p>\n

In heat eight of nine, four women all finished in the 4:16-range, and all booked finals spots. La Mirada Armada’s\u00a0Taylor Ault<\/strong> (4:16.10)\u00a0touched out The Fish’s\u00a0Madelyn Donohoe\u00a0<\/strong>(4:16.20) and Lakeside’s\u00a0Lauren Pitzer\u00a0<\/strong>(4:16.29), while Greater Tampa’s\u00a0Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> finished just behind at 4:16.67.<\/p>\n

Sandpipers’\u00a0Erica Sullivan<\/strong>, who won the 400 free at U.S. Open one week ago in 4:09.43, qualified seventh in 4:17.38, and Central Bucks’\u00a0Morgan Scott\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the final with her time of 4:17.95.<\/p>\n

North Texas Nadadores’ Jack LeVant\u00a0<\/strong>finished almost a full second ahead of the field as he qualified for the final in 3:53.40, putting him in a position to make a run at\u00a0Townley Haas’\u00a0<\/strong>meet record of 3:51.99 in the final.<\/p>\n
LeVant was followed by Lakeside’s\u00a0Alexander Zettle\u00a0<\/strong>in 3:54.61 and Team Greenville’s\u00a0Tal Davis\u00a0<\/strong>in 3:55.13. Scarlet’s\u00a0Johannes Calloni<\/strong> took fourth in 3:56.08.<\/p>\n
Also making the final were Highlander’s\u00a0Hayden Curley<\/strong> (3:57.52), Irvine’s\u00a0Owen Kao\u00a0<\/strong>(3:58.19), Badger’s\u00a0Ben McDade\u00a0<\/strong>(3:58.82) and Terrapins’\u00a0Alexei Sancov<\/strong> (3:58.88). Sancov was victorious Wednesday night in the men’s 100 free final.<\/p>\n

Austin Swim Club’s\u00a0Dakota Luther<\/strong>, fresh off a semi-finals appearance in the 200 fly at the FINA World Championships, qualified first in the two-lap fly race in prelims in 59.35, seven tenths off the nine-year-old meet record of 58.69 held by\u00a0Felicia Lee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Magnolia’s\u00a0Lucie Nordmann<\/strong>, the 200 back winner from Wednesday night, qualified second in 59.90, and Enfinity’s\u00a0Olivia Carter\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:00.06. Carter previously won the 200 fly at Juniors and then touched first in the 400 IM before being disqualified.<\/p>\n

Just behind was Multnomah’s\u00a0Van Mathias\u00a0<\/strong>in 53.97.<\/p>\n
Mason Manta Rays’\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong>, the 200 fly and 200 back winner already at Juniors, qualified fourth in 54.34, and Star’s\u00a0Noah Henderson<\/strong> was fourth in 54.37.<\/p>\n
