No records were broken on the first morning of the meet as the majority of the swimmers are still coming off of World Championships in Budapest as well as the recent World Cup meet in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> is fresh off his bronze medal winning swim in Budapest at the World Championships and swam the fastest 100 breast of the morning in Berlin with a 56.53 ahead of Belarus&#8217; <strong>Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong> (57.03) and the Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> (57.42).<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> had the fastest 50 fly of the morning with a 24.52, just off of countrywoman Therese Alshammar&#8217;s world record of 24.52. The Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> (25.06) and Poland&#8217;s <strong>Aleksandra Urbanczyk<\/strong> (25.46) followed her.<\/p>\n<p>Russia continued a strong morning as <strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> swam a 46.26 to claim the top seed in the 100 free ahead of Poland&#8217;s <strong>Kacper Majchrzak<\/strong> (46.86) and Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Doiminik Kozma<\/strong> and the Netherlands&#8217; <strong>Kyle Stolk<\/strong> (46.93).<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania&#8217;s <strong>Danas Rapsys<\/strong> (1:52.83) has the top seed in the men&#8217;s 200 back just ahead of Poland&#8217;s <strong>Radoslaw Kawecki<\/strong> (1:53.06), Russia&#8217;s <strong>Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> and Germany&#8217;s <strong>Christian Diener<\/strong> (1:53.11). World record holder <strong>Mitch Larkin<\/strong> of Australia (1:53.33) was right behind them.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands continued its strong morning as they claimed the top two seeds for the women&#8217;s 50 back final with <strong>Kira Toussaint<\/strong> (26.29) and <strong>Maaike de Waard<\/strong> (26.66) on top. They are just ahead of Australia&#8217;s <strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong> (26.74).<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217; <strong>Yauhen Tsurkin<\/strong> (22.81) swam the top time of the morning in the 50 fly ahead of Finland&#8217;s <strong>Riku Poytakivi<\/strong> (22.85) and Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Adam Barrett<\/strong> (22.99).<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands rolled on the good swims with <strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> (1:53.05) leading a tough 200 free final ahead of Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> (1:54.16) and Italy&#8217;s <strong>Federica Pellegrini<\/strong> (1:54.59).<\/p>\n<p>Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Rikke Pedersen<\/strong> rebounded from a disappointing World Championships in Budapest to take the top seed in the 200 breast heats with a 2:21.87 ahead of Jamaica&#8217;s <strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong> (2:22.35) and Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> (2:23.93).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kyle Stolk<\/strong> broke the Dutch national record in the 200 IM with a 1:54.33 that belonged to <strong>Marcel Wouda<\/strong> from the 1998 World Cup in Sydney (1:55.90). Stolk leads Russia&#8217;s <strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> (1:55.52), Australia&#8217;s <strong>Clyde Lewis<\/strong> (1:55.53) and Hong Kong&#8217;s <strong>Kenneth To<\/strong> (1:55.56).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second World Cup meet kicked off Sunday morning in Berlin.
