First, Hardy snatched the women's 100 free title in a meet-record 54.28. That effort pushed her into an eight-ranked tie with Aleksandra Herasimenia. Tatiana Barbosa finished second in the race with a 55.94, while Daynara de Paula earned third in 55.95. <\/p>\n
Hardy followed that performance with a top-ranked swim in the women's 50 breast. Hardy checked in with a 30.17 to trump the previously world best of 30.24 set by Leiston Pickett in April. Rebecca Soni nabbed second in 31.07 after topping semis with a 30.99. Ana Carvalho wound up third in 32.78.<\/p>\n
Thiago Pereira ripped through the men's 200 IM with a meet-record 1:57.35. That swim jumped Pereira into second in the world rankings behind only Michael Phelps' 1:56.88 from March. Henrique Rodrigues touched well behind with a second-place 2:00.13. Andre Schultz picked up third in 2:02.46.<\/p>\n
Felipe Silva improved upon his second-ranked season best of 27.42 with a winning time of 27.32 in the men's 50 breast. He still fell short of Cameron van der Burgh's world best of 27.24 set in April. Joao Luiz Gomes Jr. took second in 27.90, while Felipe Lima completed the podium with a 28.06. <\/p>\n
Bruno Fratus scored an upset victory over Cesar Cielo in the men's 100 free, 48.72 to 49.03. Fratus improved to 13th in the world, while Cielo already stands eighth with a 48.66 from last month. Marcos Macedo rounded out the top three in 49.42.<\/p>\n
Kirsty Coventry continued a phenomenal meet with a meet-record time of 2:11.36 to win the women's 200 IM. That performance vaulted her to seventh in the world rankings. Mireia Belmonte took second in 2:13.77, well off her third-ranked season best of 2:10.26 from last month in Spain. Duane Marce finished third in 2:15.42. <\/p>\n
During semifinal swims, Guilherme Guido captured the top seed in the men's 100 back with a 55.32, while Fabiola Molina led the way in the women's 100 back with a 1:00.52. Cielo checked in with a 23.70 for lane four in the men's 50 fly finale, while de Paula posted a 27.24 for the top seed in the women's 50 fly.<\/p>\n
In relay action, Julyana Kury, Flavia Delaroli-Cazziolato, Michelle Lenhardt and Tatiana Barbosa won the women's 400 free relay in 3:44.98.
