﻿{"id":270943,"date":"2017-08-04T19:27:57","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T02:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=270943"},"modified":"2017-08-04T19:27:57","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T02:27:57","slug":"christin-rockway-highlights-night-3-of-isca-summer-seniors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/christin-rockway-highlights-night-3-of-isca-summer-seniors\/","title":{"rendered":"Christin Rockway Highlights Night 3 of ISCA Summer Seniors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After an incredible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olivia-bray-peyton-palsha-double-up-on-day-2-of-isca-summer-seniors\/\" target=\"_blank\">record-setting night<\/a> on day two, the 2017 ISCA Summer Senior Championships saw 10 more records fall on night three, starting with USA star\u00a0<strong>Christin Rockway<\/strong>.\u00a0The ISCA meet is being held at the North Shore Aquatic Complex in St. Petersburg, Florida from August 2-5.<\/p>\n<h2>400 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Before heading to Indianapolis next week for the FINA World Junior Championships, Christin Rockway of Tampa Bay Aquatics stopped in St. Petersburg for a 400 IM tune up. She set a meet record in the process, winning the event in 4:47.54 to better the previous record held by Megan Brown of Greenwood Swimming. The time was one and half seconds off her entry of 4:45.94.<\/p>\n<p>Last night\u2019s double winner and record breaker <strong>Peyton Palsha<\/strong> of St. Petersburg Aquatics earned runner-up honors with a best time of 4:55.41. Her strong back half set her apart from Gator duo <strong>Cabell Whitlow<\/strong> (4:59.87) and <strong>Emma Muzzy<\/strong> (5:01.69). New Wave\u2019s <strong>Mary Pruden<\/strong> (5:01.88) and <strong>Sydney Willis<\/strong> (5:15.38) were also at it again finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwich Y\u2019s <strong>Ailee Mendoza<\/strong> took the sixth position with a 5:11.62, and <strong>Chloe Hampson<\/strong> (BD-5:19.29), <strong>Meghan Veenstra<\/strong> (Crimson-5:19.29) and <strong>Kylie McMahon<\/strong> (Naval Academy-5:26.86) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n<p>In the 16 and under event, Gators\u2019 <strong>Caroline Kulp<\/strong> stole the show, finishing in 4:58.23. She was followed by New Wave\u2019s <strong>Amanda Ray<\/strong> (5:03.77) and CPAC\u2019s <strong>Elizabeth Boeckman<\/strong> (5:04.24). SNOW\u2019s <strong>Rachel Schlemmer<\/strong> was not far behind in 5:04.87.<\/p>\n<p>Occoquan placed a pair of women in this heat, as <strong>Apryl Stahl<\/strong> (5:07.20) and <strong>Erin Kerrigan<\/strong> (5:11.16) finished fifth and eighth. NOVA\u2019s <strong>Zoe Dixon<\/strong> (5:08.45) and WTRC\u2019s <strong>Nicola Lane<\/strong> (5:10.50) finished between the two, while WTRC\u2019s <strong>Kait Lair<\/strong> (5:12.62) and Unattached <strong>Abigail Thrall <\/strong>(5:15.18) finished ninth and tenth.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s event, <strong>Keith Myburgh<\/strong> of the Gators crushed the previous meet record with a winning time of 4:23.56. SNOW\u2019s <strong>Jackson Lucas<\/strong> was second in 4:34.51 and Occoquan\u2019s <strong>Keven Stahl <\/strong>was third in 4:37.79.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas\u2019 teammate <strong>Michael Burris<\/strong> was next in 4:38.09, while Myburgh\u2019s <strong>Jacob Lawson<\/strong> was fifth in 4:38.82. Weston Swimming was well represented in the final with <strong>Nathan Katz<\/strong> finishing sixth in 4:40.16 and <strong>Joshua Franco<\/strong> placing tenth in 4:50.45. Mako\u2019s <strong>Fletcher Madsen<\/strong> (44.30), PCST\u2019s <strong>Chad McGuire<\/strong> (4:44.75) and St. Petersburg\u2019s <strong>Will Smith<\/strong> (4:50.16) finished between them.<\/p>\n<p>The 16 and under race went to Naval Academy\u2019s <strong>Bernhard Christianson<\/strong> in 4:31.76. CPAC\u2019s <strong>Cole Pierce <\/strong>continued a successful week with the silver in 4:35.47, and Crimson\u2019s <strong>Zach Grover<\/strong> won the bronze in 4:36.03.<\/p>\n<p>Occoquan\u2019s <strong>Gilbert Diaz<\/strong> (4:39.51) and St. Petersburg\u2019s <strong>Caleb Kravitz<\/strong> (4:40.90) claimed the next two spots. <strong>John Moore<\/strong> (SNOW-4:43.61), <strong>Mcallistar Milne<\/strong> (Blue Devil-4:43.66), <strong>John Gallant<\/strong> (WHAT-4:43.91), <strong>John Zapp<\/strong> (BWST-4:57.85) and <strong>Kyle Brown<\/strong> (4:41.49) placed sixth through tenth.<\/p>\n<h2>100 Backstroke<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Caroline Lee<\/strong> added another backstroke victory to her tally by taking the 100 distance in meet-record fashion. Her 1:04.62 was enough to break her mark from the prelims. Whitlow was second in 1:06.13 and Greenwood&#8217;s <strong>Carly Dickson<\/strong> was third in 1:07.06.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson&#8217;s teammate <strong>Brianna Harnden<\/strong> tied for fifth with Princeton Pirahnas&#8217; <strong>Grace Seitter<\/strong>. The women finished in 1:09.17, just behind <strong>Ailee Mendoza<\/strong> (1:08.49) of the Greenwich Y. The trio was followed by <strong>Taylor Williams<\/strong> of St. Petersburg (1:09.20), <strong>Yasmin Taba<\/strong>\u00a0of Planet Swim (1:09.29), Kingfish&#8217;s <strong>Taylor Eck<\/strong> (1:09.43) and Zeus&#8217; <strong>Hayley Linder<\/strong> (1:09.58).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Bray<\/strong> kept up her winning ways in the 16 and under 100 back, setting a new meet record in 1:02.79. Tampa Bay Aquatics&#8217; <strong>Celismar Guzman<\/strong> set the record in prelims with a 1:03.60, but fell short to Bray in the finals finishing second in 1:04.18. Gator <strong>Emma Muzzy<\/strong> was a close third in 1:04.50.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea Piers had a pair of ladies finish next in <strong>Sophia Moore<\/strong> (1:06.50) and <strong>Kelly Montesi<\/strong> (1:07.17). Crimson&#8217;s <strong>Halle Moore<\/strong> (1:07.60) was sixth and was followed by <strong>Olivia Lind<\/strong> (Empire-1:08.30), <strong>Janika Perezous<\/strong> (SNOW-1:08.57), <strong>Madeline Campbell<\/strong> (Panama City-1:08.82) and <strong>Whittney Hamilton<\/strong> (Gators-1:10.19).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khalil Fonder<\/strong> of the Gators was dominant once again, claiming the 100 back in 56.40. He led three other swimmers under the 1:00 mark, as SNOW&#8217;s <strong>Jackson Lucas<\/strong> (57.99), Azura Florida&#8217;s <strong>Edson Lima<\/strong> (59.81) and Rocky Mountain&#8217;s <strong>Nicholas Sherman<\/strong> (59.99) took second through fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Racer X&#8217;s <strong>Isaiah Gregory<\/strong> (1:01.04), East Carolina&#8217;s <strong>James Reindl<\/strong> (1:02.54), SNOW&#8217;s<strong> Luay Hilmi<\/strong> (1:02.57), Crimson&#8217;s <strong>Spencer Brownewell<\/strong> (1:02.69) and <strong>Giorgio Traverso<\/strong> (1:04.08) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators tripled up on 100 back victories with <strong>Noah Bowers<\/strong> claiming the 16 and under event by a huge margin. His time of 57.68 bested CPAC&#8217;s <strong>Cole Pierce<\/strong> (1:00.00) and Naval Academy&#8217;s <strong>Devin McClure<\/strong> (1:00.20) by over two seconds.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg&#8217;s <strong>Lukas Cote<\/strong> took fourth in 1:00.47, followed closely by Kingfish&#8217;s <strong>Connor Miller<\/strong> in 1:00.65. Crimson&#8217;s <strong>Zach Grover<\/strong> was also in the mix at 1:01.29.<\/p>\n<p>Empire&#8217;s <strong>Adrien Pierce<\/strong> (1:01.68), Zeus&#8217; <strong>Liam Colleran<\/strong> (1:02.23), East Carolina&#8217;s <strong>William Barker<\/strong> (1:02.66) and New Wave&#8217;s <strong>Zackary Shaver<\/strong> (1:03.35) finished seventh through tenth.<\/p>\n<h2>200 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>In an intense 200 free final, Occoquan&#8217;s <strong>Emily Hetzer<\/strong> stole the win and meet record from Palsha of St. Petersburg. Palsha set the mark of 2:04.94 in prelims, but Hetzer raced to a 2:04.69 to get the win. Greenwood&#8217;s <strong>Vivian Weng<\/strong> was third in 2:06.21.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate <strong>Kasja Dymek<\/strong> placed fifth with a 2:07.82 and was preceded by CPAC&#8217;s <strong>Alexandra Truwit<\/strong> in 2:07.42. Kingfish&#8217;s <strong>Ashley Loomis<\/strong> took the sixth spot in 2:08.07. NOVA and WTRC claimed the next two spots via <strong>Annelisa Sanchez<\/strong> (2:08.58) and <strong>Nicola Lane<\/strong> (2:09.32). NEW Wave rounded out the final per Sydney Willis (2:09.79) and Mary Pruden (2:12.14).<\/p>\n<p>After an epic anchor leg for victory in last night&#8217;s 800 freestyle relay, CPAC&#8217;s <strong>Bridget Semenuk<\/strong> took control of the 16 and under 200 free with a meet record time of 2:02.38. New Wave&#8217;s <strong>Kenna Haney<\/strong> was not far behind in 2:03.62 as she was also under the previous meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Semenuk led three more CPAC swimmers in the heat as <strong>Lillian Clisham<\/strong> took third in 2:06.19, <strong>Emily Warner<\/strong> was eighth in 2:09.35 and <strong>Elizabeth Boeckman<\/strong> claimed tenth in 2:09.79. Clisham was followed closely by <strong>Amanda Ray<\/strong> of New Wave (2:06.34).<\/p>\n<p>Blue Devil&#8217;s <strong>Tylor Mathieu<\/strong> took the fifth spot in 2:08.65, and led a tight race for the remaining spots over NOVA&#8217;s <strong>Morgan Burton<\/strong> (2:08.70), East Carolina&#8217;s <strong>Lyndsey Reeve<\/strong> (2:08.92) and Racer X&#8217;s <strong>Zoe Skirboll<\/strong> (2:09.79).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iran Almeida<\/strong> won another race for the Gators, winning the Open event in 1:53.22. East Carolina&#8217;s <strong>Philip Perdue<\/strong> was second in 1:55.76 and SNOW placed <strong>Matthew Popovich<\/strong> (1:56.25) and <strong>Collin Hughes<\/strong> (1:56.37) in the third and fourth positions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julian Iturbe<\/strong> of Azura Florida was fifth in 1:56.65 while Occoquan&#8217;s <strong>Michael Blake<\/strong> was sixth with a 1:57.92. Rocky Mountain&#8217;s <strong>Nicholas Sherman<\/strong> was next in 1:58.15 followed by <strong>Jonathan Ratliff<\/strong> (1:59.55), <strong>Austin Lansberry<\/strong> (Occoquan-2:00.07) and <strong>Keven Stahl<\/strong> (2:02.26).<\/p>\n<p>SNOW&#8217;s <strong>John Moore<\/strong> claimed the won the 16 and under race with a 1:56.20. Teammates<strong> Victor Pliuskaitis<\/strong> (1:58.02) and <strong>Samuel Oliver<\/strong> (1:58.59) were fourth and seventh. CPAC&#8217;s <strong>Stephan Todorovic<\/strong> continued his impressive week with runner-up honors in 1:57.29.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg&#8217;s <strong>Lukas Cote<\/strong> was a close third in 1:57.86, and Occoquan&#8217;s <strong>Farran Barker<\/strong> was fifth in 1:58.13. <strong>Andrew Relihan<\/strong> (Planet Swim-1:58.49), <strong>Mcallistar Milne<\/strong> (Blue Devil-1:59.00), <strong>Devin McClure<\/strong> (Naval Academy-1:59.80) and <strong>Andrew Hernandez<\/strong> (Naval Academy-2:01.76) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n<h2>50 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>In a tough battle for the top spot in the Open 50 free, SNOW&#8217;s <strong>Melissa Cundiff<\/strong> got to the wall first in 27.11 just ahead of Greenwood duo Weng (27.16) and 13-year-old <strong>Teresa Ivan<\/strong> (27.19). Greenwood totaled four swimmers in the heat at Dymek finished fifth in 27.58 and <strong>Isabella Song<\/strong> tied for eighth with Occoquan&#8217;s Hetzer in 27.99.<\/p>\n<p>East Carolina also had great representation from <strong>Svea Torres<\/strong> (27.73-6th) and <strong>Morgan Despres<\/strong> (27.92) while CPAC&#8217;s Truwit claimed the fourth spot in 27.50. Greenwich Y&#8217;s <strong>Hannah Subramaniam<\/strong> rounded out the heat in 28.32.<\/p>\n<p>Semenuk posted a blazing 26.10 for the meet record and the win in the 16 and under race. She won by over a full second of Cayman&#8217;s <strong>Alison Jackson<\/strong> (27.16). Skirboll (27.24), Weston&#8217;s <strong>Charlotte Proceller<\/strong> (27.32) and Fairport&#8217;s <strong>Serafina Viola<\/strong> (27.49) were also in the mix.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton (27.71), Haney (27.80)\u00a0Burton (27.89) and <strong>Abigail Daniel<\/strong> (Occoquan-27.89) and <strong>Eboni McCarty<\/strong> (28.44) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n<p>Azura Florida&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Torres<\/strong> claimed the men&#8217;s 50 in 23.59, and was followed by <strong>Corey Shepard<\/strong> of Occoquan (24.10) and Fonder (24.31). Perdue was not far behind in 24.33. Racer X&#8217;s Isaiah Gregory was next in 24.45 just out-racing Rocky Mountain&#8217;s <strong>Nicholas Sherman<\/strong> in 24.47. <strong>Norman Gregory<\/strong> was seventh in 24.61, followed by <strong>Justin Lawrence<\/strong> (Charleston Southern-24.64), Iran Almeida (25.24) and Collin Hughes (25.27).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kimani Gregory<\/strong>, also of Racer X, won the 16 and under race in 24.09. This broke his own meet record set in the prelims. CPAC&#8217;s <strong>Marcus Hodgson<\/strong> was not far off with a 24.12 while Gator Noah Bowers was third in 24.54.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg&#8217;s <strong>Nicholas Metro<\/strong> also dipped under 25, finishing fourth in 24.94. Cayman&#8217;s <strong>Zachary Moore<\/strong> was next in 25.02, and Naval Academy&#8217;s <strong>Edward Randolph<\/strong> took sixth in 25.06. <strong>Evan Weakley<\/strong> (Gators-25.12), Pierce (25.37), <strong>Max Milicevic<\/strong> (Planet Swim-25.43) and <strong>Connor Gamble<\/strong> (Mid-Cities Arlington-25.54) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n<h2>400 Medley Relay<\/h2>\n<p>The Gators team of Muzzy, Kulp, Bray and Hamilton set a new meet record of 4:19.02 in this event. CPAC was second in 4:22.98 and Greenwood took third in 4:27.92.<\/p>\n<p>The Gator men followed up the win with a victory of their own between Bowers, <strong>Keith Myburgh<\/strong>, Almeida and Fonder. Their 3:49.07 set a new meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas, Burris, Popovich and Hughes of SNOW Swimming were also under the previous meet record with a 3:51.63. Naval Academy took third in 4:00.80.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators now hold a significant lead over the competition with 782.50 points.
