After posting a world-leading time off 21.73 as a 200 free relay leadoff yesterday, Cesar Cielo returned with a winning 21.95 in the men's 50 free individual finale this morning. Bruno Fratus finished second in 22.20, while Nicholas Dos Santos earned third in 22.50. <\/p>\n
Kirsty Coventry set the meet record in the women's 400 IM with a third-ranked time of 4:37.21. Only Mireia Belmonte (4:34.91) and Li Xuanxu (4:35.73) have been faster so far this year in the event. Belmonte checked in with a second-place time of 4:41.45, while Georgina Bardach finished third in 4:49.22. <\/p>\n
Thiago Pereira followed in the men's 400 IM with a third-ranked 4:12.52 of his own. He trails Wang Chengxiang (4:11.89) and Yuta Horihata (4:12.28) this year in the world rankings. Henrique Rodrigues finished a distant second in 4:22.98, while Diogo Yabe rounded out the top three in 4:23.57. <\/p>\n
Jessica Hardy downed the meet record in the women's 50 free with a 24.80 to move to fifth in the world rankings. Flavia Delaroli-Cazziolato touched second in 25.48, while Alessandra Marchioro placed third in 25.90. <\/p>\n
Jessica Cavalheiro captured the women's 200 free title in 2:03.00, while Virginia Bardach Martin earned second in 2:03.16. Larissa Oliveira touched third in 2:03.66 to complete an exciting top-three battle. Ous Mellouli took the men's 200 free crown in 1:50.01.
