Olivia Bray<\/strong> of the Virginia Gators followed up her record-setting performance on night one<\/a> of the ISCA Summer Senior Championships with two more wins and meet records on day two. Peyton Palsha<\/strong> of St. Petersburg Aquatics was also a double winner and record breaker. Gators’ Khalil Fonder<\/strong> did not pick up two meet records, but did claim two great races in the 100 butterfly and 50 backstroke. The ISCA meet is being held at the North Shore Aquatic Complex in St. Petersburg, Florida from August 2-5.<\/p>\n

400 Freestyle<\/h2>\n

Palsha started off the night by re-breaking her own meet record in a 4:19.33.\u00a0Occoquan’s Emily Hetzer<\/strong> (4:25.49) won a close battle for second\u00a0over CPAC’s Alexandra Truwit<\/strong> (4:25.92). Ashley Loomis<\/strong> of Kingfish was then fourth with a 4:30.99.<\/p>\n

New Wave’s Mary Pruden<\/strong> led another tight race between three swimmers claiming fifth in 4:31.19. NOVA’s Annelise Sanchez<\/strong> was right behind in 4:31.45 followed by Greenwood’s Isabella Song<\/strong> in 4:31.61. Song’s teammates Vivian Weng<\/strong> (4:34.36) and Michelle Muchnik<\/strong> (4:35.46) finished ninth and tenth. Pruden’s teammate Sydney Willis<\/strong> took eighth in 4:32.34.<\/p>\n

In the 16 and under race, New Wave continued their success as Kenna Haney<\/strong> took the win in a new meet record of 4:19.95 and Amanda Ray<\/strong> finished sixth in 4:27.12. CPAC had a trio\u00a0of swimmers in this heat as Bridget Semenuk<\/strong> claimed the silver (4:20.42), Elizabeth Boeckman<\/strong> took fourth (4:25.30) and Lillian Clisham<\/strong> was fifth (4:26.17).<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top six was Virginia Gators’ Caroline Kulp<\/strong> who took third in 4:23.85. WTRC’s Nicola Lane<\/strong> (4:27.33), Blue Devil’s Tylor Mathieu<\/strong> (4:30.01), East Carolina’s Lyndsey Reeve<\/strong> (4:31.46) and Crimson’s Maeve Hunt<\/strong> (4:31.68) finished seventh through tenth.<\/p>\n

200-backstroke Champion Jackson Lucas<\/strong> claimed another event in the Open 400 free racing to a 4:03.37. He held off Keven Stahl<\/strong> (4:05.85) of\u00a0Occoquan and Julian Enrique Iturbe<\/strong> (4:05.89) of Azura Florida.<\/p>\n

Occoquan also placed Michael Blake<\/strong> in this final, who finished sixth in 4:10.56. He was preceded by Jacob Lawson<\/strong> (Gators-4:08.13) and Will Smith<\/strong> (St. Petersburg-4:09.86). Teammate Joshua McQueen<\/strong> (4:12.63) was eighth. Ryan Schaum<\/strong> (4:12.11), Tyler Stringfellow<\/strong> of Kingfish (4:14.81) and NAAC’s Brendan Cline<\/strong> (4:17.83) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n

CPAC continued their 400 free dominance with Cole Pierce<\/strong> in the 16 and under men’s event. He got to the wall first in 4:04.19 and was followed by a pair of SNOW swimmers. Victor Pliuskaitis<\/strong> earned silver in 4:05.63 while Samuel Oliver<\/strong> took the bronze in 4:06.42. John Moore<\/strong>, also of SNOW, was seventh in 4:11.68.<\/p>\n

West Hartford Aquatic Team claimed the next two spots per John Gallant<\/strong> (4:08.25) and Kyle Brown<\/strong> (4:08.40). NAAC also had a pair of men in this final as Devin McClure<\/strong> (4:11.17) finished sixth and Andrew Hernandez<\/strong> took ninth (4:13.69). Zach Grover<\/strong> of Crimson was eighth in 4:13.29.<\/p>\n

100 Butterfly<\/h2>\n

Greenwood’s Kasja Dymek<\/strong> followed up her meet record in last night’s 50 fly with another record in the 100 distance. She posted a 1:02.26 to narrowly get the win of Gator’s Cabell Whitlow<\/strong> (1:02.35). BD’s Chloe Hampson<\/strong> was next in 1:03.31.<\/p>\n

Dymek led a strong Greenwood contingent as Weng placed seventh in 1:05.32 and Brianna Harnden<\/strong> took ninth in 1:05.87. CPAC also had a pair of swimmers in fourth-place Isabel Blaze<\/strong> (1:04.06) and sixth-place Carolyn Morikawa<\/strong> (1:04.67). Maddie Oliver<\/strong> of SNOW was fifth in 1:04.28, Kylie McMahon<\/strong> of NAAC was eighth in 1:05.65 and Amanda Blickensderfer<\/strong> of PCST was tenth in 1:06.18.<\/p>\n

Bray provided the race of the night in the 16 and under event, setting the fourth-fastest time in the nation so far this year for 16 and under girls. She posted a 59.61 for the gold. Kelly Montesi<\/strong> of CPAC was second in 1:02.46 and Ray earned a close third in 1:03.25. Kulp took fourth in 1:03.32 followed closely by 12-year-old Zoe Skirboll<\/strong> of Racer X in 1:03.43. This is the second-fastest time in the nation so far for 11 and 12 year olds.<\/p>\n

The Gators’ Whittney Hamilton<\/strong> was also in the mix with a 1:03.59 as was Blue Devil’s Maggie Mantz<\/strong> in 1:03.77. CPAC’s Sophia Moore<\/strong> (1:04.76), SNOW’s Emerson Davis<\/strong> (1:04.93) and\u00a0Occoquan’s Abigail Daniel<\/strong> (1:05.22) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n

Khalil Fonder of the Gators took the men’s race in 54.06, just off his 54.00 meet record from the prelims. Teammate Iran Almeida<\/strong> was second in 54.85. Jonathan Ratliff<\/strong> (57.27) led a close battle ahead of Azura Florida’s Edson Lima<\/strong> (57.35), SNOW’s Matthew Popovich<\/strong> (57.40) and CSC’s Ian McCallum<\/strong> (57.68).<\/p>\n

Occoquan’s Corey Shepard<\/strong> led four men at 58 seconds finishing seventh in 58.10. He was followed by Racer X’s Norman Gregory<\/strong> (58.14), PCST’s Chase Bolding<\/strong> (58.31) and YFD’s Devon French<\/strong> (58.68).<\/p>\n

Racer X’s Kimani Gregory<\/strong> won the 16 and under race in 56.89, and was followed by Marcus Hodgson<\/strong> of CPAC in 57.84 and\u00a0Occoquan’s Gilbert Diaz<\/strong> in 58.02. Hodgson led two more CPAC swimmers in this final as Benjamin Feldman<\/strong> took fourth in 58.66 and Stephan Todorovic<\/strong> was eighth in 59.49.<\/p>\n

Hernandez was fifth in 59.08, leading Connor Miller<\/strong> (Kingfish-59.38), Jonathan Ma<\/strong> (Empire-59.47), Collin Myburgh<\/strong> (Gators-59.91) and McClure (1:03.10).<\/p>\n

200 Breaststroke<\/h2>\n

Palsha claimed her second race of the night in the 200 breast with a 2:37.45. She completely dominated the race, winning by over nine seconds and setting another meet record in the process. New Wave’s Ashley Heineman<\/strong> was second in 2:46.80 while YFD’s Kimberly Dutta<\/strong> was third in 2:47.33.<\/p>\n

CPAC and Greenwood both had two swimmers in the heat. Morikawa (2:48.51) and Olivia Fassett<\/strong> (2:52.56) placed fourth and seventh for Chelsea Piers, while Natalie Baclawski<\/strong> led the way for Greenwood with a fifth place swim of 2:48.68. She was joined by Lefteri Roba<\/strong> who finished ninth in 2:52.76.<\/p>\n

WTRC had Kate Lair<\/strong> place\u00a0sixth in 2:49.39 and Aliya Zimmerman<\/strong> finish tenth in 2:53.00. SNOW’s Maren Oliver<\/strong> was eighth in 2:52.61.<\/p>\n

Gator’s Emma Muzzy<\/strong> added another win to her tally this week by winning the 16 and under 200 breast in 2:40.77. Daphne Bernal<\/strong> of SNOW was the first of three swimmers to go 2:43 as she was second in 2:43.20.\u00a0Occoquan’s Abigail Daniel<\/strong> was next in 2:43.80 followed by Weston’s Samantha Kim<\/strong> in 2:43.82.<\/p>\n

SNOW’s Shelby Gerving<\/strong> placed fifth in 2:44.26 followed closely by NAAC’s Evelyn Krall<\/strong> in 2:44.92. Teammate Jenna Miller<\/strong> was eighth in 2:46.70 and was preceded by\u00a0Occoquan’s Apryl Stahl<\/strong> (2:46.68). Crimson’s Elizabeth Athanas<\/strong> was ninth in 2:47.81 and CPAC’s Siera Daly<\/strong> was tenth in 2:48.37.<\/p>\n

Gators’ Keith Myburgh<\/strong> had a quick last 50 to come from behind and win the the 200 breast in 2:19.94. SNOW’s Michael Burris<\/strong> held on for second in 2:20.15 and PCST’s Chad McGuire<\/strong> took third in 2:20.53. Teammate Chase Bolding<\/strong> was fifth in 2:29.16.<\/p>\n

Weston’s Nathan Katz<\/strong> took the fourth spot in 2:24.55 while teammate Charles Palsho<\/strong> was seventh in 2:30.57.\u00a0Occoquan’s Jonathan Brooks<\/strong> was sixth in 2:29.53, East Carolina’s James Reindl<\/strong> was eighth in 2:30.97, Mako’s Fletcher Madsen<\/strong> was ninth in 2:34.45 and Blue Devil’s Michael Galati<\/strong> was tenth in 2:35.67.<\/p>\n

Naval Acadmey’s Bernhard Christianson<\/strong> broke the meet record in the 16 and under race, swimming a 2:21.41, bettering his 2:22.03 meet record from the prelims. CPAC’s Connor Morikawa<\/strong> was the runner-up in 2:23.96 while Makos’ Andrew Hale<\/strong> also dipped under 2:30 with a 2:29.97.<\/p>\n

Morikawa was joined by teammates Todorovic (6th-2:32.44) and Benjamin Feldman<\/strong> (8th-2:34.64) in the heat. Azura Florida’s Brandon Moran<\/strong> took fourth with a 2:31.17, followed by Blue Wave’s Johnn Zapp<\/strong> in 2:31.84 and New Wave’s Luke Fortner<\/strong> in seventh with a 2:32.90. Gator Colin Myburgh<\/strong> was ninth (2:35.24) while NOVA’s Hunter Locher<\/strong> took tenth (2:44.57).<\/p>\n

50 Backstroke<\/h2>\n

SNOW Swimming’s Caroline Lee<\/strong> was just one-tenth off the meet record in the 50 back, winning the race over Greenwood’s Carly Dickson<\/strong> 30.60 to 31.02. Dickson held off a fighting Whitlow (31.35) of the Gators to earn the silver.<\/p>\n

Lee led two more SNOW swimmers in the heat, as Melissa Cundiff<\/strong> (32.87) and Nerissa Wagner<\/strong> (33.32) finished ninth and tenth. Cayman Swimming also had double representation from Alison Jackson<\/strong> (4th-32.11) and Sarah Jackson<\/strong> (6th-32.44). Molly Bradford<\/strong> (Panama City-32.43), Taylor Eck<\/strong> (Kingfish-32.57) and Grace Seitter<\/strong> (Princeton Piranhas-32.78) also competed in the final.<\/p>\n

Bray was at it again in the 50 backstroke, breaking her own meet record and taking the Open event in 30.25. SNOW’s Janika Perezous<\/strong> was second in 31.12 and Blue Devil’s Morgan Rogers<\/strong> won a tight race for third in 31.82. Eboni McCarty<\/strong> was just behind in 31.92.<\/p>\n

A pair of 13 year olds claimed the next two spots via NOVA’s Zoe Dixon<\/strong> (32.09) and Naval Academy’s Sydney Atkins<\/strong> (32.16). Crimson’s Tiernan Shea<\/strong> was narrowly behind in 32.17, followed by New Wave’s Haney (32.30) and Aynslee Grasso<\/strong> (32.41) and Mid-Cities Arlington’s Abigail Pham<\/strong> (33.16).<\/p>\n

Fonder had a dominant victory in the 50 backstroke, winning in 26.85 over Azura Florida’s Daniel Torres<\/strong> (28.03) and SNOW’s Luay Hilmi<\/strong> (28.54). Racer X’s Isaiah Gregory<\/strong> was also under 29 with a 28.83.<\/p>\n

Occoquan’s Corey Shepard<\/strong> was next in 29.14, and was followed by Kevin Spear<\/strong> (Crimson-29.28), Cole Morgan<\/strong> (Cayman-29.83), Giorgio Traverso<\/strong> (Unattached-29.92), Norman Gregory<\/strong> (Racer X-30.50) and Bryce Chu<\/strong> (Empire-30.57).<\/p>\n

Zeus Swim Team’s Liam Colleran<\/strong> won the 16 and under event in 27.97, and was the only swimmer besided Fonder to break the 28-second barrier. East Carolina’s William Barker<\/strong>, at just 14 years old, won the silver in 28.73. Kingfish’s Connor Miller<\/strong> won bronze with a 28.88.<\/p>\n

Gators’ Evan Weakley<\/strong> and SNOW’s Cameron Lai-Harris<\/strong> tied for fourth in 29.41, giving New Wave’s Zackary Shaver<\/strong> the sixth spot in 29.42. Cayman’s Zachary Moore<\/strong> finished the battle in seventh with a 29.43.<\/p>\n

Naval Academy’s Edward Randolph<\/strong> (29.51), Racer X’s Gregory (30.36) and Greenwood’s Ethan Shepard<\/strong> (30.41) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n

800 Free Relay<\/h2>\n

CPAC’s team of Truwit, Clisham, Montesi and Semenuk put together a come-from-behind win out of lane 10 in the 800 free relay. Trailing the leaders Gators and New Wave headed into the final leg, Semenuk was able to get her hand on the wall first over both teams. Their time of 8:27.15 broke the meet record set by Greenwood in 2015.<\/p>\n

The Gators ended up second in 8:28.78, while New Wave took third in 8:29.40. Both swims were also under the previous meet record.<\/p>\n

The Gators did prove victorious in the men’s race, as Myburg, Almeida, Lawson and Fonder won a battle over SNOW’s Lucas, Popovich, Hughes and Moore. The teams both finished under the previous meet record with times of 7:38.75 and 7:39.48, respectively.<\/p>\n

Occoquan took third in 7:55.55.<\/p>\n

The efforts of Bray and Fonder helped the Gators extend their lead to 550.5 points. SNOW Swimming is currently in second place with 399.5 points while Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club is third with 331.<\/p>\n
