﻿{"id":270775,"date":"2017-08-03T16:17:47","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T23:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=270775"},"modified":"2017-08-03T16:27:39","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T23:27:39","slug":"2017-u-s-open-championships-day-two-finals-live-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2017-u-s-open-championships-day-two-finals-live-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Chloe Tutton, Jonathan Roberts Impress on Night Two at U.S. Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second of five evenings of finals at the 2017 U.S. Open in East Meadow, N.Y., featured six individual and one relay final, and\u00a0<strong>Chloe Tutton<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Roberts\u00a0<\/strong>each put up quick times in their respective events, while\u00a0<strong>Matea Samardzic<\/strong> touched out\u00a0<strong>Lisa Bratton<\/strong> in an exciting women&#8217;s 200 back final.<\/p>\n<p>Read below for event-by-event full coverage of the session.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2017-us-open-championships-day-2-day-2\/usa-senior-national\/2017\/August\/2\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Full results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Sandpipers&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Erica Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>out-dueled North Carolina Aquatic Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ashley Twichell\u00a0<\/strong>and pulled away over the back half to take the win in 4:09.43. So it was Tutton, the fourth-place finisher in the event at the Olympic Games last year, who ended up getting the win in 2:24.80.<\/p>\n<p>Metroplex&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vanessa Pearl\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:27.05, and Cardinal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrea Cottrell\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:28.18.<\/p>\n<p>Marlins of Raleigh&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ashley McCauley<\/strong> finished\u00a0fourth in 2:29.25, and she was followed by Long Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Margaret Aroesty<\/strong>, who placed fifth in 2:29.53 while swimming in her home pool.
