Four meet records fell on night one of the 2017 ISCA Summer Senior Championships courtesy of Olivia Bray<\/strong> <\/a>(Virginia Gators), Kasja Dymek<\/strong><\/a> (Greenwood Swimming) and Jackson Lucas<\/strong><\/a> (SNOW Swimming). The meet is being held at the North Shore Aquatic Complex in St. Petersburg, Florida from August 2-5.<\/p>\n

The Gators currently lead the team scores with 295 points, while SNOW sits second (195) and Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club resides third (164). New Wave Swim Team and Greenwood Swimming are also in the mix with 102 and 98 points, respectively.<\/p>\n

200 Backstroke<\/h2>\n

Dynamic duo Oliva Bray and Emma Muzzy<\/strong> started the night off for the Gators with a 1-2 finish in the 200 back finishing with a 2:15.51 and 2:19.01, respectively. Bray’s efforts were enough to break the meet record set in 2015 by Ashley Boddiford<\/strong>. Kelly Montesi<\/strong> of Chelsea Piers raced to a lifetime best in the finals, earning third place with a 2:19.68 just behind Muzzy.<\/p>\n

Janika Perezous<\/strong> of SNOW Swimming was fourth in 2:22.64 while Nicola Lane<\/strong> of the WTRC Sharks was fifth in 2:25.50. Occoquan Swimming had a pair of athletes in the A final in Katherine Diatchenko<\/strong> (2:26.36) and Erin Kerrigan<\/strong> (2:27.66). NOVA of Virginia did likewise with Morgan Burton<\/strong> (2:27.18) and Zoe Dixon<\/strong> (2:27.47). Sydney Atkins<\/strong> of the Naval Academy Aquatic Club rounded out the A final in 2:28.20.<\/p>\n

Gator teammate Cabell Whitlow<\/strong> claimed the open event in 2:21.41 after fighting off Mary Pruden<\/strong> (2:21.60) of New Wave Swim Team in the back half of the race. Greenwich Y’s Ailee Mendoza<\/strong> claimed third in 2:23.48. Caroline Lee<\/strong> of SNOW took fourth with a lifetime best of 2:25.01.<\/p>\n

Carly Dickson<\/strong> of Greenwood Swimming\u00a0achieved the same feat racing to a 2:25.34 and leading a trio of GS swimmers in the A final. Teammates Brianna Harnden<\/strong> (2:29.36) and 13-year-old Chloe Song<\/strong> (2:34.09) placed seventh and tenth. Nicole King<\/strong> of the West Hartford Aquatic Team split Dickson and Harnden by claiming the sixth spot at 2:27.62. Taylor Eck<\/strong> of Kingfish (2:30.89) and Hayley Linder<\/strong> of Zeus (2:33.98) took eighth and ninth.<\/p>\n

In the men’s event, the Gators went three-for-three as Noah Bowers<\/strong> won the 16 and under 200 back in 2:06.05. St. Pete’s Lukas Cote<\/strong> was second in 2:10.41 followed by Chelsea Pier’s Cole Pierce<\/strong> in 2:12.19. Kingfish’s Connor Miller<\/strong> was not far behind in 2:12.41. Crimson’s Zach Grover<\/strong> also dipped under 2:13 with a 2:12.93.<\/p>\n

West Hartford’s John Gallant<\/strong> placed sixth with a 2:13.25 holding off Sam Folger<\/strong> of Greenwood who placed seventh in 2:13.95. Garrett Kiesel<\/strong>, (Empire-2:15.07) Devin McClure<\/strong>, (Naval Academy-2:16.71) and Daniel Baldwin<\/strong> (New Wave-2:17.62) rounded out the Championship final.<\/p>\n

Jackson Lucas<\/strong> of SNOW provided the first non-Gator win of the evening by setting a new meet record of 2:05.28 in the Open event. Despite an early charge, Khalil Fonder<\/strong> of the Gators took second in 2:06.97. Teammate Jacob Lawson<\/strong> was third in 2:10.83.<\/p>\n

Nicholas Sherman<\/strong> of RPDS was fourth in 2:11.42, followed by James Reindl<\/strong>, (East Carolina-2:15.47) Daniel Torres<\/strong>, (AZFL-2:16.30) Ryan Schaum<\/strong>, (Empire-2:17.07) Michael Blake<\/strong>, (Occoquan-2:17.71) Devon French<\/strong> (YFD-2:21.17) and Zachary Beucler<\/strong> (Crimson-2:22.42).<\/p>\n

200 IM<\/h2>\n

In the 200 IM, Muzzy earned top honors this time around with a winning time of 2:21.47. Chelsea Piers’ Bridget Semenuk<\/strong> was not far behind in 2:22.45, as she lead a handful of CPAC swimmers in this heat. Sophia Moore<\/strong> finished fourth (2:23.06) while Elizabeth Boeckman<\/strong> claimed ninth (2:25.57). The Gators were also strongly represented as Caroline Kulp<\/strong> took the third spot in 2:22.86.<\/p>\n

12-year-old Zoe Skirboll<\/strong> placed fifth in 2:24.15 followed by Amanda Ray<\/strong> of New Wave in 2:24.99, Rachel Schlemmer<\/strong> of SNOW in 2:25.07, Kenna Haney<\/strong> also of New Wave in 2:25.38 and Zoe Dixon<\/strong> of NOVA in 2:25.73.<\/p>\n

St. Pete’s Peyton Palsha<\/strong> held off Greenwood’s Vivian Weng<\/strong> in the Open event as the women went 2:21.15 and 2:21.65, respectively. CPAC then placed a pair of swimmers in this heat as Alexandra Truwit<\/strong> placed third in 2:25.20 and Carolyn Morikawa<\/strong> was seventh in 2:27.37. New Wave also had two swimmers in the A final as Pruden placed sixth with a 2:27.18 and Sydney Willis<\/strong> took ninth in 2:28.77. Nicola Lane<\/strong> of WTRC was fifth in 2:26.32 while Emily Hetzer<\/strong> of Occoquan was eighth in 2:28.62 and Mendoza took tenth in 2:30.29.<\/p>\n

SNOW’S John Moore<\/strong> took the 16 and under event in 2:08.20, exactly one second ahead of Naval Academy’s Bernhard Christianson<\/strong>. CPAC placed a trio of swimmers in the heat, as Pierce was third in 2:10.18, Stephan Todorovic<\/strong> was sixth in 2:13.83 and Marcus Hodgson<\/strong> was eighth in 2:15.69.<\/p>\n

Bowers was fourth in 2:11.56, while Crimson’s Zach Grover<\/strong> took the fifth position with a 2:13.60. Gilbert Diaz<\/strong> of Occoquan (2:14.05), Mcallistar Milne<\/strong> of Blue Devil Aquatic Club (2:15.94) and Devin McClure<\/strong> of Naval Academy (2:20.37) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n

Keith Myburg<\/strong> of the Gators dominated\u00a0the Open race in 2:05.41. SNOW’s Michael Burris<\/strong> was second (2:09.22), Collin Hughes<\/strong> was fourth (2:11.34) and Matthew Popovich<\/strong> was sixth (2:12.78).<\/p>\n

Philip Perdue<\/strong> of East Carolina took the third position in 2:10.78 while Panama City teammates Chad McGuire<\/strong> (2:12.44) and Chase Bolding<\/strong> (2:16.51) placed fifth and tenth. Nathan Katz<\/strong> of Weston was seventh with a 2:13.76 and Occoquan’s Keven Stahl<\/strong> (2:14.54) and Corey Shepard<\/strong> (2:15.45) took the eighth and ninth spots.<\/p>\n

100 Breaststroke<\/h2>\n

Skirboll handedly got to the wall first in the 16 and under 100 breast, winning the race in 1:14.57. Weston’s Samantha Kim<\/strong> was second in a tight race with a 1:16.07. SNOW’s Shelby Gerving<\/strong> was third in 1:16.18 and teammate Daphne Berna<\/strong>l was eighth in 1:17.25.<\/p>\n

Blue Devil’s Tylor Mathieu<\/strong> (1:16.58), CPAC’s Moore (1:16.65), New Wave’s Mikaela Fullerton<\/strong> (1:16.73) and Racer X’s Naomee Miller<\/strong> (1:17.22) took the next four spots. Pueblo County’s Emily Morelan<\/strong> (1:17.49) and Naval Academy’s Isabel Finch<\/strong> (1:17.91) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n

Palsha claimed a second event this evening by winning the Open race in 1:14.39. Patricia Casellas<\/strong> was next in 1:15.27, while Ashley Heineman<\/strong> of New Wave took third in 1:16.77.<\/p>\n

Morikawa was fourth in 1:17.20 and was followed by Kimberly Dutta<\/strong> of the 92nd Street Dolphins (1:17.86), Weng (1:18.26), WTRC’s Kate Lair<\/strong> (1:18.61), East Carolina’s Morgan Despres<\/strong> (1:18.80), Pueblo County’s Amanda Blickensderfer<\/strong> (1:19.56) and Greenwood’s Natalie Baclawski<\/strong> (1:20.06).<\/p>\n

Christianson earned his residency on the top of the podium in the 16 and under 100 breast with a winning time of 1:06.43. The swim was enough to out-race Connor Morikawa<\/strong> of CPAC (1:06.83) and Collin Myburgh<\/strong> of the Gators (1:08.21).<\/p>\n

Benjamin Feldman<\/strong> (1:08.92), also of CPAC, led a tight race in the middle of pack including John Zapp<\/strong> of Blue Wave (1:09.55) and Greenwood’s Jason Rosales<\/strong> (1:09.76). Mason Makos’ Andrew Hale<\/strong> (1:10.42), Azura Florida’s Brandon Moran<\/strong> (1:10.45), Charleston Southern’s Justin Sage<\/strong> (1:11.58) and New Wave’s Daniel Baldwin<\/strong> (1:12.48) also competed in the race.<\/p>\n

SNOW’s Burris also earned top honors, winning the Open 100 breast in 1:05.33. The race came down to finish, as Burris edged out Panama City’s Chad McGuire<\/strong> (1:05.37) and Keith Myburgh<\/strong> (1:05.97). Weston Swimming claimed the next two spots per Charles Palsho<\/strong> (1:06.90) and Nathan Katz<\/strong> (1:07.67).<\/p>\n

Charleston Southern’s Justin Lawrence<\/strong> was sixth in 1:08.79 followed by Azura Florida’s Daniel Torres<\/strong> (1:08.92), Occoquan’s Jonathan Brooks<\/strong> (1:09.10), SNOW’s Phillip Crouch<\/strong> (1:09.22) and Racer X’s Isaiah Gregory<\/strong> (1:09.70).<\/p>\n

50 Butterfly<\/h2>\n

Both Bray and Greenwood’s Kasja Dymek set meet records in the 50 fly. Bray won the 16 and under race in 27.57 while Dymek won the open in 28.52. Gator teammate Whittney Hamilton<\/strong> (29.72) was seventh in the 16 and under while Greenwood’s Dickson (29.71) and Song (30.96) were fifth and tenth in the open.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Procellor<\/strong> (Weston-28.51), Amanda Ray<\/strong> (New Wave-29.03), Skirboll (Racer X-29.04), Maggie Mantz<\/strong> (Blue Devil-29.53) and Rachel Schlemmer<\/strong> (SNOW-29.66) placed second through sixth in the younger category. Amelia Sicignano<\/strong> (CPAC-29.85), Sophia Allan<\/strong> (Empire-30.01) and Kenna Haney<\/strong> (New Wave-30.42) took eighth through tenth.<\/p>\n

In the Open, SNOW also had three competitors in Melissa Cundiff<\/strong> (28.91-2nd), Maddie Oliver<\/strong> (29.81-7th) and Caroline Lee<\/strong> (30.17-8th). Blue Dolfin’s Chloe Hampson<\/strong> was third in 29.32 while Pueblo County’s Amanda Blickensderfer<\/strong> was fourth in 29.66. \u00a0Hannah Subramaniam<\/strong> of Greenwich was sixth in 29.73 while CPAC’s Isabel Blaze<\/strong> was ninth in 30.47.<\/p>\n

Racer X’s Kimani Gregory<\/strong> won the men’s 16 and under race in 25.62, followed by Naval Academy’s Andrew Hernandez<\/strong> (26.39) and Gator Evan Weakley<\/strong> (26.59). Occoquan’s Steven Butler<\/strong> was next in 26.78 while teammate Diaz was sixth in 27.08.<\/p>\n

Cayman’s Liam Henry<\/strong> was fifth in 26.91, and John Plutt<\/strong> (Pueblo County-27.10), CPAC’s Feldman (27.22), Connor Miller<\/strong> (Kingfish-27.70) and Greenwood’s Folger (27.75) rounded out the heat.<\/p>\n

Fonder found his way to the top in this event, claiming the Open race in 25.26. Teammate Iran Almeida<\/strong> was close behind in 25.28. Azura Florida then claimed the next two spots via Edson Lima<\/strong> (25.99) and Daniel Torres<\/strong> (26.41).<\/p>\n

Occoquan’s Shepard was fifth in 26.55 followed by Matthew Popovich<\/strong> (SNOW-26.67), Ian McCallum<\/strong> (Cayman-26.69), Chase Bolding<\/strong> (Panama City-26.89), Rory Barrett<\/strong> (Cayman-27.10) and Giorgio Traverso<\/strong> (Gators-27.52).<\/p>\n

200 Free Relay<\/h2>\n

Kulp, Bray, Muzzy and Hamilton teammed up in the women’s relay to earn a narrow victory over Greenwood’s team of Weng, Teresa Ivan<\/strong>, Dymek and Isabella Song<\/strong>. The teams went 1:47.62 and 1:47.82. East Carolina took third in 1:50.76.<\/p>\n

SNOW’s Collin Hughes<\/strong>, Luay Hilmi<\/strong>, John Moore<\/strong> and Popovich had a similar victory, beating the Gators 1:36.35 to 1:36.57. Occoquan was third in 1:39.88.<\/p>\n
