Action on the first day only included prelims of the 200 freestyle relays and a timed finals of the 1500 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bank&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marie Schobel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Caroline McGann<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ginger Hansen<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Shannon Judge\u00a0<\/strong>edged Cheshire&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Tyler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Boyer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mia Leko<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tara Tiernan<\/strong> by .01 for the top seed in the women&#8217;s 200 freestyle relay. Red Bank touched in 1:47.01 ahead of Cheshire&#8217;s 1:47.02. Another mere .06 back was Fanwood Scotch Plain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marlise Moesch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Darlene Fung<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rachel Maizes<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Monika Burzynski\u00a0<\/strong>with a 1:47.08.\u00a0Finals will take place tomorrow night.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200 freestyle relay Somerset Hills picked up the top seed. The team of\u00a0<strong>Jack Alexy<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sean Foster<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Roo Fenton<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Carkhuff\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 1:36.24. Just over a tenth behind was the team of\u00a0<strong>Matt Wilson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>KJ Losee<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ben Puglessi<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Henry Schutte\u00a0<\/strong>from Rapid Area. Powel Crosley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carson Burt<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Garrison Herfel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will McCullough<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Charles Leibson\u00a0<\/strong>secured third with a 1:36.47.<\/p>\n<p>York&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Leah Braswell\u00a0<\/strong>was first to the wall in the women&#8217;s 1500 freestyle. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-gators-get-verbal-commitment-from-y-national-champ-leah-braswell\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Florida commit<\/a> hit the wall in 16:46.88.\u00a0<strong>Catherine Buroker\u00a0<\/strong>of Wilton was only five seconds behind with her 16:51.85. Braswell led the whole way, creating more distance between the two as she went. She was up by a second at the 500 and two at the 1,000.\u00a0<strong>Nicole Welch\u00a0<\/strong>from North Shore completed the top three with a 17:18.40.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 1500 freestyle, Somerset Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Riley Pestorius\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in 16:07.56. At the 500\u00a0<strong>Patrick Butkovich<\/strong>\u00a0of ME Lyons<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>led by a second, over the next 500 meters Pestorius fought back to lead by six seconds at the 1000 meter mark. Burkovich rallied\u00a0at the end to touch in 16:09.99, just two and a half seconds back from the winner.
