The Board of Directors of Dynamo Swim Club announced the hiring of Ian Murray<\/strong> as its new Head Coach and Mike Cotter<\/strong> as Chief Executive Officer. Ian comes to Dynamo from Carmel Swim Club in Carmel, Indiana where he served as Associate Head Coach. Ian\u2019s first day at Dynamo will be Tuesday September 5.\u00a0 Mike Cotter moves from Interim CEO to assume the permanent CEO role.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to welcome Ian to the Dynamo family,\u201d said Barbara Coats<\/strong>, Dynamo Board President. \u201cThe combination of Ian\u2019s leadership and our talented coaching staff will allow Dynamo to continue to flourish. We are delighted to name Mike Cotter<\/strong> to be Dynamo\u2019s CEO.\u00a0 He has served Dynamo for more than 25 years and his breath of knowledge about Dynamo\u2019s operations is unsurpassed.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Ian Murray:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ian has served as Associate Head Coach of Carmel Swim Club since September 2013. Ian brings vast experience in coaching swimmers of all levels, including a World Junior Record Holder, a USA Swimming 2015 National Champion, and multiple Junior National Champions.\u00a0 During his time at Carmel, Ian\u2019s swimmers set multiple USA Swimming Age Group national records.\u00a0 Ian served USA Swimming as a 2016 National Team coach, a member of the coaching staff of the 2016 USA Swimming College Challenge, head coach for the 2016 Southern Zone Select Camp, and an assistant coach for the 2013 National Select Camp.\u00a0 The American Swim Coaches Association named Ian a 2015 Coach of Excellence.<\/p>\n

As Carmel\u2019s Associate Head Coach, Ian was responsible for the daily coaching of the club\u2019s High Performance training group, overseeing Carmel\u2019s coaching staff, and working with the club\u2019s business manager and CEO on yearly financial budgets.\u00a0 Ian has experience with fundraising, sponsorship campaigns, and alumni relations.\u00a0 In addition, he worked on the club\u2019s efforts to build a new facility.<\/p>\n

Ian served as Carmel\u2019s Head Age Group Coach from 2006 – 2013.\u00a0 During his tenure, Carmel won 12 Indiana Swimming Age Group Team Championships. His athletes consistently earned national rankings and broke more than 60 Carmel Swim Club records and more than 25 Indiana Swimming Records. In 2012, Ian was named Indiana Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n

In addition to his responsibilities with Carmel Swim Club, Ian as an assistant coach on the Carmel High School swim team.\u00a0 The girls team has won 31 consecutive Indiana High School State Swimming Championships, a national record for all sports.<\/p>\n

Prior to Carmel, Ian coached from 2000-2006 on the staff of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where he was an Age Group and Senior Coach.\u00a0 While at Lake Erie, Ian worked with multiple members of the USA Swimming National Team, including an Olympic gold medalist.\u00a0 Ian was named the 2006 Lake Erie Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year.\u00a0 While at Lake Erie, Ian served on the staff of the Richard Quick<\/strong>\/Stanford National Swim Camp, and was Head Coach of the 2003 Ohio Mid-States QUAD Team and the 2004 Lake Erie Zone Team.<\/p>\n

Ian worked as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Cleveland State University swim team from 2000-2001.\u00a0 He was a standout swimmer at Cleveland State from 1996-2000.\u00a0 \u00a0As a college swimmer, Ian was a conference champion, school and conference record holder, and team captain.<\/p>\n

Ian and his wife Jennifer are the proud parents of two children, Arran and Ainsley.<\/p>\n

About Mike Cotter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mike Cotter has served Dynamo for over 25 years, mostly recently as Interim Chief Executive Officer and prior as the Chief Operating Officer\/CFO.\u00a0 Mike has been a key leader in Dynamo\u2019s growth, helping Dynamo grow from the original Chamblee location to multiple facilities.\u00a0 During his tenure, Mike led the construction and expansion of the Alpharetta facility, installment of the dome at the Chamblee\u2019s long course pool, and the recent Chamblee facility expansion and renovation.<\/p>\n

Mike\u2019s long involvement with Dynamo has been a key factor in the organization\u2019s success and Mike has been instrumental in the startup and continued success of Dynamo Pool Management, Inc.<\/p>\n

Mike and his wife Michelle are the parents of two children.<\/p>\n
