Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> of Sweden and Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> of the United States were announced as the swimmers of the meet at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom won three gold medals and a silver and set three world records in the competition. Sjostrom won the 100 fly, 50 fly and 50 free here in Budapest as she set world records in the 50 and 100 free. Sjostrom led off her country’s 4×100 free relay with a world record on the first night (51.71) and set the 50 free record last night (23.67) in the semi-finals. Sjostrom was also silver in the 100 free getting out-touched by American Simone Manuel<\/strong> in the final.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom also helped her team finish fifth in the 4×100 free and 4×100 medley relay finals as she split the fastest butterfly split of all-time in the medley relay with a 55.03. Sjostrom is still only 23 years old.<\/p>\n

Dressel won three individual gold medals as well in the 100 free, 50 free and 100 fly. Dressel also picked up relay gold medals in the 4×100 free and 4×100 medley relays as well as the two mixed relays. Dressel swam the textile bests in the 50 free (21.15) and the 100 fly (49.86) and set an American Record in the 100 free (47.17) and the 50 fly (22.76). He also swam the second fastest fly split ever in the medley relay with a 49.76 split.<\/p>\n

Dressel also was a part of two mixed relay world records as he led off the free relay and swam butterfly on the medley. Dressel is a few weeks shy of his 21st birthday as he turns 21 on August 16, so he still has a big career ahead of him as he heads into his senior year at the University of Florida.<\/p>\n
