{"id":270081,"date":"2017-07-30T10:32:36","date_gmt":"2017-07-30T17:32:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=270081"},"modified":"2017-07-30T11:42:51","modified_gmt":"2017-07-30T18:42:51","slug":"united-states-breaks-womens-400-medley-relay-world-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/united-states-breaks-womens-400-medley-relay-world-record\/","title":{"rendered":"United States Breaks Women&#8217;s 400 Medley Relay World Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States women ended the Budapest World Championships on a huge note as the women broke the 400 medley relay world record with a 3:51.55 to break the 3:52.05 from the 2012 Olympics. <strong>Kathleen Baker<\/strong>, <strong>Lilly King<\/strong>, <strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> broke the record that was held by the all-star cast of <strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong>, <strong>Rebecca Soni<\/strong>, <strong>Dana Vollmer<\/strong> and <strong>Allison Schmitt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comparative splits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Baker (58.54), King (1:04.48), Worrell (56.30), Manuel (52.23)<\/li>\n<li>Franklin (58.50), Soni (1:04.82), Vollmer (55.48), Schmitt (53.25)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The United States has now won 37 total medals in the pool at the World Championships, surpassing the record total of 36 from the 2007 Worlds in Melbourne ten years ago and the 1978 Worlds in West Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Russia broke the European Record for the silver medal as <strong>Anastasia Fesikova<\/strong> (58.96),<strong> Yulia Efimova<\/strong> (1:04.03), <strong>Svetlana Chimrova<\/strong> (56.99) and <strong>Veronika Popova<\/strong> (53.40) broke the record with a 3:53.38 for silver. The record surpasses Denmark&#8217;s 3:55.01 from Rio last summer. The breast split from Efimova is the fastest breaststroke split by a woman in history.<\/p>\n<p>Australia won the bronze medal with <strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong> (58.53), <strong>Taylor McKeown<\/strong> (1:06.29), <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> (56.78) and<strong> Bronte Campbell<\/strong> (52.69) at 3:54.29.
