﻿{"id":269894,"date":"2017-07-30T01:56:59","date_gmt":"2017-07-30T08:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=269894"},"modified":"2017-07-30T02:02:32","modified_gmt":"2017-07-30T09:02:32","slug":"american-mens-medley-relay-b-team-matches-women-qualifies-first-for-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/american-mens-medley-relay-b-team-matches-women-qualifies-first-for-finals\/","title":{"rendered":"American Men&#8217;s Medley Relay B-Team Matches Women, Qualifies First for Finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Men&#8217;s 400 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The American men will enter the final race of the FINA World Championships, the 400 medley relay, as gold-medal favorites after the so-called &#8220;B&#8221; team qualified first in prelims.\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>(52.69),\u00a0<strong>Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(58.99),\u00a0<strong>Tim Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>(50.74) and\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (47.24) qualified in 3:29.66, which was faster than the time an American squad swam to win gold in the event at the last World Championships in Kazan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Grevers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kevin Cordes<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nathan Adrian\u00a0<\/strong>figure to comprise the finals quartet, and all four won medalsin their individual 100-meter events.<\/p>\n<p>Japan qualified second but almost two seconds back in 3:31.63.\u00a0<strong>Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>(52.86),\u00a0<strong>Yasuhiro Koseki<\/strong> (59.11),\u00a0<strong>Yuki Kobori\u00a0<\/strong>(51.27) and\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura\u00a0<\/strong>(48.39) made up that team. Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grigory Tarasevich\u00a0<\/strong>(53.71),\u00a0<strong>Anton Chupkov\u00a0<\/strong>(59.06),\u00a0<strong>Daniil Pakhomov\u00a0<\/strong>(51.55) and\u00a0<strong>Danila Izotov\u00a0<\/strong>(47.80) took third in 3:32.12.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain qualified fourth in 3:32.35, but\u00a0<strong>Adam Peaty\u00a0<\/strong>did not compete in prelims and is bound to make a big impact in the finals.
